anyway to downgrade from business to personal account?
 

My situation is a little different, but currently I have a personal / individual account that eBay tell me that I need to upgrade to a business account, it is not for the VAT limit, that was not reached.

I cannot list anything on the account unless I change the account to a business account, this is a pain, as I like to use the low seller fee offers, max seller fee £3 etc.

I called eBay, but they said they could not do anything, but I find the majority of advisors on eBay have no idea what can and cannot be done.

Do I just update the account to a business account ? then call them and ask them to downgrade back to a personal account ?

I have already asked them to remove the need to upgrade to a business account, but that does not seem to be possible.

Any help or advice?

In my experience they will never downgrade to a private account but I guess if you left it dormant for a couple of years they might consider it.

I'm pretty certain I've read in their 'community values and principles' support pages that they will not allow businesses to downgrade to private sellers due to
some inference that the feedback and reputation earned was down to the efforts of the business and would be an unfair reflection on the 'new' private seller.


IMO you either convert it and run with it or you start again because if you convert it and use it there is zero chance of it ever being back to a private account.

Thank you for your reply, I must admit, that was pretty much my thoughts too, I guess a business account for low value sales will not be a bad thing, better than a dead account.

Don't worry about it and upgrade. They give the same offers to business sellers now 75% off final value fees so it's not as good as the £3 promo but good enough. And there are many perks of having a biz account I find things sell much quicker.

Sounds ideal, I must admit it is mainly for the FVF offers.

Do they offer the promo offer once every two weeks? As they do for private seller accounts?

Do they offer any free listings, or are they all 30p each?

30p each or maybe consider opening a basic shop.

30p but if you are selling high value it's the FVF discount that makes all the difference.

And it isn't every 2 weeks but get on to customer services and ask them to put your account forward for the promo's and they will manually do that for you. I ask all the time. If one rep makes excuses, end the chat get on to the one that does.

I was told that I need to downgrade to an individual account or change the name of my business account. My payouts have been on hold pending id verification. I didn't even know you could change the name of an account. I thought accounts weren't transferable. Anyways, I changed the name to my real name. Gave them all my real info. Now I'm waiting to see what happens. Might be permanently suspended.
