Business Seller to Private Seller
 

Hi guys back in the day I am talking about a good 10 years ago I was forced by ebay to change my REAL DETAILS private account to business because according to them' I was selling in high volume'. Around 10-20 items a week.

(Nowdays ebay let private sellers sell 1000 items for free per month.)


Firstly I am not even a business !! I was selling mainly used clothes items @99p.....So the listing fee 35p x 50-100 listings a week and if they don't sell to repeat and repay that 35p again , I was at a loss.

So I just stopped selling on that account since 8 years ago and opened up 6 private stealth accounts throughout time... All are doing fine and in good standing. But now this Managed payments has come into force I boycotted them all cause I don't want to take no unnecessary hits from those fools at ebay.

Off topic; I am still receiving 1-2 sells a month and being paid into the attached paypals of these accounts , although I have not signed up for Managed payments

So I have been in touch via webchat 3 times with these clowns at ebay about changing my account back to private from business and 2 times they fobbed me off with we will look into it and get back to you.

Today I got this ;

'I'm afraid once there is a record of trading as a business account, there is no option for your account to be downgraded. Alternatively, you can create a new account as a private seller and just ensure you do not upgrade it unless your situation changes.'

I haven't sold or even logged on to the account since 8 years ! Also that account has 950+ feedback.
Seems fishy they can't change it. A new account ! NO THANKS!


I must add that I have a ebay account that got banned from selling about 7 years ago as 'Below standard' status (LOW DETAIL SELLER RATING -POSTAGE TOO SLOW )loomed over me for 2 months. So it is just a buying account which I do use to buy things daily with my REAL DETAILS!
Worried that ebay will link this account to the business account both with my REAL DETAILS and then close both of them !! YIKES

What do you think I should do?

There will be link to the business account - possibility of closure as a result - might be worth just going fresh and unlinked

Just a quick one , So are you suggesting I should close both of these accounts before opening a new one ?

Closing them will achieve nothing, leave them dormant for now.

Both your legit accounts are linked. eBay allows you to hold multiple accounts as long as you do not sell the same items.

Keeping the banned account alive makes the situation risky.

If you're feeling adventurous, try migrating the banned account to MP.
You can force a migration by creating a listing. Hopefully, the MP migration kicks in before you're stopped due to the ban.

If it works, keep up a few sales going for 1 or 2 months, making sure everything is alright. Don't buy or sell on the other account during this time.
If all goes well, close the old, non-MP account. It should take 60 - 90 days to complete.

When it's done, ring eBay asking for permission to open a buyer account.

Interesting... 10 years ago I was selling 200-300 items a day and my account is still an Individual Account after all these years.
