Can Ebay Trace My Old SS Number
 

Ebay has stopped me from selling until I can provide an ID and show proof of my business. Back in May Ebay forced me to get into their management thing. I first went thru the bank transaction deal which i passed with flying colors. They didn't accept 2 different papers I sent them showing my proof of business. One was a certificate of good standing from my state because my EIN number wasn't on it. Then I submitted a copy of my 1040 for 2020. I put a paperweight covering my SS number which when I called a rep said that they don't want anything covering any papers. My question is can Ebay trace my SS number to my old account? I got kicked of Ebay about 8 years ago and got back on by creating a business account. I'm worried that they may match up my SS number to my old account. How long do they keep the old info?

I also want to add they I don't want to show them my license which has my real info on it. I told them I don't drive anymore and I don't have a passport. I'm hoping I can get around this if I can satisfy them with my business paper work.

Feels like old info is kept forever - that being said, it's a risk on your end...quite a few posts around here about working with business info though

Ebay may not have your SSN as 8 years ago,they have Paypal to do the tax work for them

Just send them it without anything blocking, they aren't searching out **** to get you. They just want to know you're legit. They will suspend you later lol

You’ll probably be fine. ultimately if you want to get the account running fully you’re going to need to provide it one way or another

eBay did not ask for SSN prior to managed payments (because Paypal did - they handled the money) so they have no record of your SSN from 8 years ago.

Thanks guys for the replies. What about the ID they want. I don't want to show them my license because it has my old info on it. Should I try to get a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ license from China if they insist on me producing an ID?

Easier (and safer) yet would be to go to your local DMV. They'll give you a legit ID for cheaper than a phake one would cost.

I know it's a PITA. It took me like 2 years after my last move to get my ID updated but I eventually had to because of situations like the one you're in.

Yeah but will my local DMV give me an ID with my business name instead of my real name? Also if you get suspended from Ebay indefinately does that mean forever? Is there a chance I can get back on with my old ID?

Unless you legally change your name, I don't think your DMV will do that wholeheartedly...

There's no such thing as an ID with your business name on it. I don't understand what you're trying to do, I guess. If you're saying you need an ID with a different address because your current home address has already been banned, I don't really know what you can do. Being able to keep people kicked off of eBay is part of the reason they switched to MP.
