eBay listings slow to appear
 

Anyone else notice this lately - listings are slow to appear in search results regardless of account used and other things like the vehicle compatibility chart are not working. It seems eBay is doing some kind of category maintenance. Sales have also plummeted over the past few days.

Update: An eBay buyer said they tried to pay for an item three times and it never went through, so perhaps the payment side is having issues as well? They may be doing some kind of core upgrade, be alert

Sometimes issues with payments are caused by restriction on the account.

I listed items up yesterday one item went up straight away but the other few listings have been waiting 18 hours so far to go live. This account is an old account.

Yes, it is a limitation possibility on one account, but the other two are solid and had the same experience as samspalace, one instantly shows, the other does not. Will try to wait it out and stay under the radar ;)

Yep, 24-48 hours is often the case Im seeing on new accounts... more than years past. Occasionally the first item I list will go up instantly though.. maybe thats cause its less risky than the others? Idk

Also a few more bugs, for example some listings don't show at all when I update the stock on a GTC listing... you can't find em indexed on any of the search results, even though the listing itself appear active. Def a bug, I found a workaround though.

Its been like this since last week. eBay is turning into dog sh&t.

Now it looks like they changed everything by categories. So your listings might not show unless the buyer changes the category while shopping for specific items. Which is dumb the average buyer isn't gonna shop by different categories.

Their compatibility function for automotive listings is also still broken. In this economy they are adding insult to injury. Sometimes things just need to be left alone.

yes, after MP this happens to also. But after 16-24 hours they are live

Inside sources say the compatibility and category changes are still ongoing - major updates are being done site-wide and on the backend servers. This may be why the MP process is also sporadic - when it all settles down it will either be good (more lenient MP policies) or bad for us (most likely). Personally I have seen a huge drop in sales the past week or so and am almost 100% certain it is due to this compatibility and category issue. Basically no items with the compatibility chart are showing up in search results. Only listings where the buyer uses a keyword in the title show up.

Ive also started noticing that my listings are now on the 3rd 4th page when searched for. Last week I could search for my item and it would appear right away. Whereas now when searched for it appears with 1,000’s of other items. Now I have to filter it down and search for specifics. Why are eBay doing this? This will cost them in sales massively because people dont have time to be filtering etc! Many will search for an item go through a couple of pages and thats it! Im hoping this is just category maintenance because my sales will plummet now.

Listings are taking almost the full 24-48 hours to show active, especially if I search my own store from other accounts. My older accounts list immediately no matter which category I'm listing in. This just started a few weeks ago for my new accounts.

I haven’t made a new account recently but it always used to take 24 hours for listings. Not sure this is anything new? Especially with holiday season approaching.
