Ebay had $20bn turnover! WOW!

In 2020 they had a record turnover.
I think we should all have a party to celebrate this momentus occasion.

Meanwhile, amazon turns over $386bn in 2020. So ebay is like 5% of the size of amazon!
Why the f**k are we wasting our energies trying to sell on a dying dinosaur platform?
(Don't get me wrong... if ebay allows us to sell... Then I want them to live and thrive. But with MP payments... They've made it too hard. If you're going to stealth... Then just put all efforts into amazon instead I say!)

It's because they allow us to sell... like you said.

Amazon wants all the business for themselves.

I can well believe it- I have the same products sold across ebay , amazon, and etsy- 80% of all sales come from Amazon with 15% from etsy and only 5% from ebay.

amazon used to be interesting but are becoming less relevant for third party sellers. although the buying power on amazon is higher than on ebay there is an issue with amazon preventing sellers from selling lots of products

the result are higher prices on amazon than on ebay so you can be sure that ebay will be profiting from this and buyers will be turning to ebay again in order to save money and the price difference in some categories are radical indeed

I think you're wrong.
I'm sure Amazon is 70% (or at least some BIG number) 3rd party sellers.

Until they demand supplier invoices from those 3rd party sellers, then go over the sellers head by contacting their supplier directly and ordering 1 million units branded as "Amazon Basics", then put their own product on the first page and drive the other sellers away.

I don't know.. I just don't like their practices. Their clear monopoly should have been broken up a long time ago but that kind of thing isn't enforced anymore.

It's being discussed, along with Google and FB.

Go to your room and think about what you've done. :)

this does not apply to small sellers and private sellers

nowdays smaller sellers can not even sell in many categories at all so that top selling products are only sold by amazon or approved large competition

in many cases they do not even need invoices , they have the necessary data to see what is in demand and not available from amazon or large sellers and they buy the product in bulk and sell it cheaply , considering their buying power they can easily ask the manufacturer to produce it exclusively for them

Some things are better to be sold on ebay and some on amaZOn

In the best case it will work out how it always does: instead of one big Amazon we would have many slightly smaller Amazon's still monopolizing the market.

See: standard oil, microsoft, and the AT&T cases :nono:
