Can you change user ID to reuse it later?
 

Simple question - If you change your user ID for one account, can you reuse that name on a different account? For example, if store x changes its name from "johnsstore" to "majorappliances", can store y then use the username "johnsstore" ?

This is just a marketing and branding question, not asking about stealth practices or linking (although, that aside, I don't imagine this would cause a link nonetheless).

I doubt it.
But you can always go ahead and try. I find it hard to believe ebay will allow that though.

You can't do it. If anything they reserved the name for 60-90 days before anyone can reuse it.

You can call them and ask them to manually allow you. I've done it before.

Branding purposes. Really liked some of my old names but lost them due to poor selling practices (high risk items, poor CS, etc). Now that I'm a better seller Id like to retain them.

I use these names on other platforms as well, so it would help solidify my branding

I think there is some sort of cool off period between reusing a store name

You can.

If you change your ebay ID, the old one is returned to the available pool after 30 days.

I agree I have seen it done. But that was after a few months. Not sure how long the actual time is

Yeah, you by definition are creating a link by doing it. There is no way around that. It’s best just to use a different name, imo.
