Questions about selling when moving to NYC
 

I've been living in the suburbs for most of my adult life, but a new career opportunity has presented itself in the city (NYC) that I'm really interested in pursuing. In the suburbs, this is easy - DHL delivers inventory straight to my doorstep, and USPS picks up outgoing 1x/day from my doorstep as well. Worst case scenario I can toss my shipment bag into my vehicle and drive to the nearest post office.

I'm wondering how this changes in the city. If I have an apartment in a high rise, I can't exactly leave my shipments in an empty hall on the 9th floor or expect DHL to deliver all the way up there. Some apartments don't have reception lobbies. Is the solution just making sure I pick an apartment with a reception lobby?

Sorry if this is a trivial question, I'm just wondering what to do w my eBay biz as this next chapter of my life begins.

OOOOOOOH NYC!!! congrats!!

Okay so for NYC let's say you don't have a lobby receptionist, lock room etc nothing....
Go to your nearest mailbox provider and rent a box from them.

For shipping your stuff out, make a UPS business ACC and call to schedule a pick up.

You'll need it in NYC.

Does UPS scheduled pickup also handle USPS mail? Link says it starts at $12.90 per week, thats better than I thought it would be - https://www.ups.com/assets/resources...up-options.pdf

USPS is not at all related to UPS. But you can certainly schedule pickups for free on the USPS website. Or simply leave it where your USPS daily mail carrier picks up mail upon delivery of mail.

They sometimes hand your parcels to USPS for a cheaper pricing, just call them both and compare prices.

UPS and FED Exp both use USPS for the infamous last mile,(deliver to the final destination,like your home) for a fee,USPS likes it,as it has to deliver mail to you any way,why not earn some extra $$.
