| I use it too. It's a convenient way of keeping a listing 'semi-active' whilst I wait for more stock to arrive if, as there has been during the last couple of years, supply issues.
On top of the convenience angle, I was always keen to preserve sales history etc and believed it would assist when new stock landed.
But here's the issue I encountered. I have a good selling item, been running for many years but I ran out of stock and it took months to get some more. When it landed I duly updates the listing. I also pay for promoted listings. It sat there for weeks with hardly any views. So I copied the listing changing to title ever so slightly to circumvent ebays duplicate listing policy. Bingo, sales rolled in. I know ebay give new listings a little visibility boost but never realised it was going to have this much of an impact.
Anyway, the purpose of my tale as you've no doubt realised is that sometimes the convenience of the out-of-stock facility isn't always as beneficial is it seems. |
