Can’t get into eBay account as old phone number
 

EBay want to send my old phone number a text but as I no longer use that number I can’t get the text ! I can’t seem to find a way around this

You will have to call and maybe answer identity questions, something in your setup is too stealth for eBay. You basically look like you’ve been hacked. Either you’ve changed devices, ISPs or deleted cookies.

Usually when you keep the cookies they ask for email or phone number OTP.

But if you’re getting phone number sms only, your only option is to call and unlock account, no way around it

Same issue since one week I can’t Login to my account, eBay rep doesn’t have any ideas, they told me they contacted the technical team and I will receive the answer within 24 hours, I contacted eBay 4 times now. I dint know what to do? The old number is not recoverable. Any ideas?

You have to call them and they should ask you some identity questions and if you answer them all they should be able to update it and let you sign in

this is because the reps have not been updated. when you call them they look for a security issue on your account to lift and can not find any issues

the reason for these problems is that some accounts are being upgraded to the new ebay digital wallet which is supposed to be something like managed payments 2.0 where people can send ebay funds to third parties

and as always this upgrade was not thought through , they just block access to account and request SMS without making any prior checks whether the mobile on file is still valid and it may indeed be some old number not in use for years

Issue is resolved. They updated the new number automatically. I don’t give them the number. Just they put the number when I contacted them

I have called the eBay customer service. They forward the issue to the technical team

If I recall there's a link somewhere in their website that you can get a phone call back in like minutes.

I Just put my new mobile number and they call me within one minute
