I can’t believe what’s just happened
 

Hi everyone,

I’m in shock on what’s just happened. I created an account nearly 2 weeks ago. Details below.

1) real name and date of birth
2) slight address change

Sold my first item on the account and received we couldn’t verify you. I’m not sure if this was because eBay havnt taken the deposits out of my account yet so receiving payment before this was probably not the best idea. I don’t think it’s down to the address as name and date of birth is important and has to be correct they only asked for Passport, drivers license or government issued ID. Example of name would be Dan but ID document is Daniel example so I think this could of also been the case why they didn’t verify me.

I got suspended on eBay at the start of the year. I created another account shortly after my first suspension and received the same message on the other account as I have on this one.

I sent my passport on my first account created and it got declined was real passport and they still declined it.

I thought I would just upload same passport again and honestly I thought it was all over again but when I saw the message just minutes after I sent my passport over I got an email saying we verified your account.

I couldn’t believe it my payout is £270 which will be completed tomorrow and hopefully sent in my bank next day.

On my other accounts I’m now going to wait for deposits to be taken out of my account before selling an item and I’m also putting full name including middle name on all my accounts now but keep slightly changing my address.

Just remembered I did this at the start of the year and passport was verified but 12 hours later account got suspended fingers crossed it doesn’t get suspended in the next 12 hours again but I’m not very hopeful now seems like ID gets verified automatically and then gets a review by a human could be wrong tho.

Another update just got the same message 3hrs later saying we verified your ID. I went through my credit report and decided to re change the address on my eBay account to an address on one of my credit reports and shortly after doing this I get the same message we verified your ID never had the same message twice in a row.

I notice with Lloyds bank and bank of Scotland you can change address on the app and I believe if you change address on the app it will then show up on your credit report not 100% sure yet tho so if eBay checks credit report then address change will be on their. If this works then this is the first big loophole I’ve discovered in creating accounts.

I’ve also discovered a none valid address which is not verifiable through postal network will not work this was another reason why I probably wasn’t verified and asked for ID.

changing addresses is pointless though if your name and DOB remains the same , you could as well just use the same details on all accounts and ebay do allow to open many accounts with same details

In the USA you are allowed to have five open accounts per name/tax number. I would guess it is similar in the UK.

The only reason for the address change is my old address is suspended on eBay and slightly changing real address probably caused a red flag in terms of verifying me so I’m hoping with the address change on my bank and on credit karma they will now be able to verify me that’s if it is an address issue which they couldn’t verify me in the first place.

Yes I think it is similar in the U.K. as well problem is if you lose 1 account then all 5 go down so trying to create separate eBay accounts it’s hard work trying to figure it all out not going to lie lol tomorrow is a big day to see if my account stays open or gets the dreaded suspension email :/

I dont know if this is the case or not. Mixed reports the past two years.

I dont loose ebay accounts, but on etsy(still adyen), you can loose an account and open up another one with the same name and tax number the same day.

Update on the account is officially suspended 12.5 hours after ID confirmed. Question is when will I receive the payout for the item sold? I must of been suspended because they couldn’t verify me. On another account I have confirmed deposits but I’m going to wait for eBay to take deposits out this time if it doesn’t work next plan is to wait 30 days to list one up to avoid account reactivate message.
