Ubuntu, how to find/access/change network

For anybody using ubuntu in a virtual machine, I just don't understand how to modify the network preferences. Change from the line at home to the line of (for example) a hotspot. I'm looking but I can't find anything similar to that. Any tip from the experts?

From the network icon. If one of the networks does not appear you either don't have drivers or have improper setup of the vm.

Also update and upgrade your os, this will fix the drivers and probably will solve your problems after restart. How to update? A lot of info on google.
