Is a wraptel.com usa phone number sim card good for usa stealth?

Hi all as I previously mentioned I'm shopping around for a USA sim card at a reasonable price.

Found wraptel.com who provide a sim card for $5.50 + $2.50 a month and free to receive SMS. Seems like a good deal.

Any thoughts / experience with this company?

Seems like an odd setup when your sim arrives you get a reference number instead of a phone number. Then when you topup it apparently applies a USA number to your sim card.

Do you think I would have any problems if I used this provider with ebay stealth?

Never used it before - I would ask them if they are using real SIMs or just online number. If its the former should be pretty solid

The odd thing is they sent me out a real physical sim card but the USA number isn't revealed or applied to it until I activate the sim so I'm not sure if they are somehow applying an online number to a physical sim or its just a normal sim card number that needs to be activated before use.

When you order you can choose USA number, uk or canadian then when you get the sim card it has no phone number but apparently when you activate they assign it a phone number.

So it's a little confusing.

They say in their FAQ that it will be SMS verification compliant, but make it clear its a VOIP service.

I guess you'll have to be the first to try it and report back. :)

There is a voip app offered to reduce call costs but as far as I can tell there is nothing to indicate the original sim card provided / number given is voip based.

I don't want to be the first to try a "dodgy" service and lose my one and only USA stealth account lol.

Yep a lot of the time SIMs will only have the number shown when you top it up and it gets activated so that makes sense

It says here they are an MVNO

Does this mean they aren't voip based? Is it possible to be both MVNO and VOIP at the same time?

Ok that's good to know I guess UK numbers work different to USA numbers as in the UK you know before activation what your phone number will be.

Not always it’s happening more and more in the UK now as well sadly

What's the conclusion ok to use wraptel or risky? Are they voip or regular? I can say that they are using real sims to some degree as they sent me a real physical sim to activate.

It's worth it it seems.

That's about how much I pay for my mobile numbers too per month.
