Do eBay accept birth certificates as proof of ID?
 

Hi everyone,

I’ve not been asked to upload ID for my stealth accounts but I would like to prepare in advance on what ID to send in.

It’s very easy to check drivers license on government website so if eBay do check this to see if it’s a valid drivers license then it doesn’t seem the route to go down.

I’m not sure if passports can be checked or not.

But my question is are birth certificates acceptable as ID (not everyone has a passport or drivers license) and to open banks in the U.K. if you don’t have passport or drivers license then banks will accept a birth certificate so do eBay accept birth certificates as proof of ID?

Ebay are now like Amazon. If you cannot supply some recognised form of photo ID they get suspicious. Will they accept a birth certificate on it's own as ID - no they will not. You will be asked to supply other paperwork too such as a utility bill and a bank statement.

Gotta look normal, normal folk don't offer their birth certificate as their only form of ID. :)
