EBAY retains my available funds

My ebay was limited after selling around 10 items. So now the amount 38euros is avaialbe to withdraw. Today I contacted Ebay support in UK site, and I was told "As per law eBay is required to retain your funds , I am afraid you will not be able to withdraw your money" and " I am sorry you feel this way , but as required by the law your funds will be retained . I would kindly ask you to contact your local authorities regarding this as it is not in our hands :)"

It was my German account.

Anyone helps?
Thanks

Well then, that's odd that eb decided to retain your funds - not much help can be offered without more details from you

This is normal and common, happens to most of us, everyone will tell you the same from experience.

I believe this may be 50/50 if they decide to release your funds, keep contacting support every day a few times and see what each one says.

In my opinion I think this occurs when they cannot verify your ID, which your funds go into an "escheatment" process where they will only release hem when you contact your local "government" body who deals with complaints to get them.

Keep trying chat support though and see what answer you get eventually, try calling as well.

It was a German account, and I contacted UK ebay support. Really hard to get contact with German support.

All details of dead account were real, except address. The address I was not living there.

About the "government' body, which department should I contact ? Any ideas?
Thanks

tedsmith1990, I don't know if 38 euros is worth all this effort in my opinion

Re: EBAY retains my available funds

As above, it's simply not worth the effort over such a tiny amount of money.

In any event, you know you wouldn't win any actions you took against them because you already know they're in the right. Germany too....game over.

It's the way Amazon have been operating for years now, ebay sellers need to accept this is the new norm and learn from it for any future accounts you create.

Same for me on one of my accounts £247 is in the balance stuck their until I think 60 days.

The account is dead and won’t ever run again.

I think what I might do is message customer asking customer to send item back to me and then I can sell it on another account instead.
