Listing risky item on new account?

Hi everyone,

I’ve tested a few accounts out recently. I recently sold a gym flat bench it was branded as well and sold for £96 I listed this item up after creating the account didn’t receive any messages from eBay and when it sold no issues either just wanted me to put my deposits in to verify bank that was it.

So my question is it must be okay to list risky items on new accounts as I’ve just sold a branded flat bench on a brand new account?

Appreciate all your replies.

It isn't ok but you seem to have had a good luck experience for now - tread carefully

People go to eBay and setup a fresh account and sell a brand new iPhone no issues, it’s all about how you look to the eBay bot, if it sees anything that makes you look like a robot/scammer then ban hammer

True point - all about optics

But none of us are bots. Think about it, if I use VPN is doesn’t mean I am a bot. These days VPNs are so popular among regular users that anyone can technically create a new eBay account under VPN which will result in a suspension.

Yeah your right definitely nothing wrong with doing that. I take it you wouldn’t list multiple iPhones for sale on new accounts tho? Wait for account to age a bit for that?

The average seller on eBay isn’t listing lots of iPhones. This triggers the bot to either perm suspend you or just put a mc011 on the account until they can verify that you are legit.

Valid point - however because of the brand and category, listing could get pulled

Listing lots of brand name items on a new account, feedback would be eBay least concern. eBay would care more about determining where you are getting the items from and proof of identity (MC011). Or they would just perm suspend you to protect their community.

I got a mc011 on a top rated seller with 250 positive/0 neutral/0 negative and 100% shipping on time and validated tracking after I sold 10 PS5 consoles. They didn’t care about my feedback or my shipping statistics

It just shows this is why it’s so important to have many back up accounts to rotate sales around example would be if you had 10 phones at a time and 10 accounts 1 on each account will certainly limit the risk of receiving MC011.

I also agree with Roy in terms of feedback doesn’t matter to much I can sell risky item with barley any feedback at all.

Does anyone know when eBay will ask you to confirm identity on stealth accounts. I’ve heard it’s around £750 total sales before eBay are asking you to provide ID. Last account I had failed this procedure tho.

Not sure how it works for UK, but USA after $600 sales total they ask for full SSN. Only ask for ID and signed W9 form if they can’t verify the information
