Problem with stealth account purchase
 

Hi all

I purchased a stealth account on here. The seller (who I won't name as the objective here isn't to criticise them) told me that the phone number on the account must be updated and he has a tried and tested method to update it.

I followed his instructions but they refused to update the number. They kept refusing again and again (the seller said keep trying if they refuse) Eventually they agreed to update it but never did. I chased them up and they said sorry for the delay we will update it.

I chased them up again and again and again (after waiting very patiently after each request) Every time they said we will do it within 72 hours sorry for the delay we are escalating this and will ensure it's done ASAP. Then they said my request is very difficult but they will escalate it to the highest level of technical support and do it ASAP. (Never heard such BS in my life - updating a phone number requires their highest technical experts) I wonder how much ebays highest techncial experts are paid to update phone numbers all day.

This has been going on for 2 months and now my account is suspended and they didn't update the phone number. I think they suspended the account because that was easier than fulfilling their promise it me.

Anyone else had anything like this?

Sounds like they wanted to suspend me from the beginning but couldn't resist stringing me along for 2 months first. Every time I contacted they insisted they would do it but just needed a little more time.

I have contacted the seller directly to see if they are willing to give me a replacement account or find another resolution but wanted to ask here if anyone had experienced anything similar to this?

It is a pain to update the number but eBay do usually do it after 2/3 calls

Does the seller not have the original number still? If they do replace the account, which I think they should, ask them to make sure it’s swapped for an account with a sim they still have access to

Thanks for your reply. I think the seller is offering these accounts very cheap on the basis that they don't get involved with updating phone numbers, giving cookies etc they literally want to provide the credentials and that's the end of it. I can see his point of view as he doesn't want to create too much work for himself in order to keep his time spent low and the cost low.

All the updating phone number, creating cookies etc work is down to the buyer. The sellers instructions on how to update phone number may well work in some cases but unfortunately despite my absolute best and incredibly patient effort it didn't work with me.

He does say in his terms that he will replace accounts if they are suspended before login so I should be eligible for a replacement.

I will update you here or by PM with any response that I get from the seller.

That's pretty bad service if accounts are being supplied without an active phone number attached. Supplying a "tried and tested method", which clearly doesn't work all the time is really not an excuse.

Oh, and it doesn't take a genius to work out who the seller is so you might want to delete this thread if you are keen to protect their "reputation", lol.

I know the seller has lot of satisfied customers and this may well be an isolated issue so it doesn't matter if people figure out who I'm talking about. This isn't a bad review or criticism of the seller let's wait and see if it gets resolved before jumping to conclusions about who the seller is and how good their service is.

To be fair they are offering a very low price so it's not necessarily unreasonable for them to "cut corners" in terms of providing a live phone number that others sellers charging 6x the amount might not cut as long as they replace the account when issues like this arise.

In their terms they say they will replace accounts if they are suspended before login so as long as that happens then the service is ok in my view.
