ebay asks for id if you sell in 24hrs

This is just a theory, but I've noticed when an item sells in 24 hours after listing, the account gets hit with 3 messages. 1. To add a document number (update some details on your account); 2. ACTION REQUIRED: we couldn't verify your bank information; 3. To upload docs (update some details on your account).
At this point the account is dead. After submitting docs they first send a message that they verified my bank information, then in a few days I am banned.

My question is: can selling in 24 hours after listing trigger this?

I would assume so, which is why its always better to start slow - maybe a 7 day auction on a low priced item

They suspend my accounts with auctions.

I do always wait 10 to 14 days then start with a 7 day auction and many years later still seems to be fairly solid as a method

I think what you are selling and final auction price could be a reason. I never sell anything over £100 for the first 30 days and never get suspended
