Umsatzsteuer ID Nr in eBay Germany
 

I sell in eBay Germany and they ask me to upgrade to business account and provide Umsatzsteuer Identifikation Nummer within 4 weeks from now. Guys from Germany what is best to do please?

what is your turnover and shipping location?

My turnover has exceeded 10k I think, I am now based in Germany and in the UK ( I work remotely), the account is German

if the registration country or shipping location is Germany you will have to register for german VAT or the account is dead

alternatively you can register an ebay account in the UK and use a shipping location outside of Germany , in this case no VAT registration is required but ebay would automatically charge 20% VAT to all buyers

You passed the vat treshold. You have to pay 20% tax, or stop using the account till the next year.

Too late. He has to register for VAT now or the account will be permanently suspended.

10.000 EUR VAT threshold is low comparing to the UK , this only became possible because UK left the EU , in general the noose around EU sellers is becoming tighter so it is better to register outside the EU if this is doable , if sales to the EU are needed it should still be possible to register for VAT in the EU using foreign residence
