VAT Registration and country change
 

EBay has requested to register for VAT in Germany ( the account is German) and I have another 2 weeks time to register for VAT otherwise the account would be suspended. I have an address in the UK, if I change the registration country in the UK (threshold is 85K not like EU 10K), is there any risk to suspend the account when I change the registration country to the UK ? The account is legit and with my real information. Any thought or experiences to this matter please?

Once they ask you to register for VAT you have no choice. Your only option would be to register then de-register if that's possible.

Changing to UK won't make any difference but will likely attract unwanted attention. If they did allow it and are as switched on as, say, Amazon (which I now believe they are but have no info for you) they'll still make you register for UK VAT as they'll deem you to be a non-resident.

you can not change registration country on ebay anymore. you would need to open a new UK ebay account and go through full verification
and on such an account you would be automatically charged 20% VAT on all sales to Germany

as far as the VAT request is concerned , once it's done it's done. you either register or the account will not be able to sell anything anymore
