The buyer opened a request not to receive the item

Hi.

3 months ago I sold a digital product on ebay. It was sent to the buyer in message only.
Now, after 3 months, the buyer has opened a dispute with the item not delivered to him and he expects a refund.

Since the item was not sent by post, I do not have a tracking number.
Ebay wants me to send a tracking number that I don't have or give him his money back.
How can I protect myself in this situation? Am I doomed to fail?
I have over 500 transactions on ebay and 100% positive feedback. If I make a refund how will it affect my account? Anyone had a similar situation?

Contact Ebay and explain the situation.
Show them how you delivered the product and ask for advice for the next time.

dont waste your time asking-no tickee,no washee.
You have no tracking,you bear the risk,refund and move on.
This is how it works,the buyer cant pay his cc bill and so he goes down the statement and file INR.
If he does it too many times,his buying privilege would be suspended,as for the seller it makes you look bad and eventually it could remove your selling privilege

Refund buy, ebay will be happy, add the buyer to your blocked list and relax
