December suspension wave over now?

Hi,

I know a lot of accounts get banned in the run up to Christmas day. Does this hypervigilance decrease now that Christmas day is over, or January when things calm down?

thanks

Last year it was over only about late end of January or even start of February!

I think account suspension is still ongoing !

For US accts in the past, things started settling down after the 1st week in January.

got my 2 new accounts wiped out on december, just before black friday.

in what category were your sales - just asking if anything risky was being sold

Well it could be anything. It's not always a ban wave nor is it always your fault.

So if you tell us how you made your accounts and what type of stuff you were selling, it'll give us a much better insight.

Actually I got suspension I have never seen before. It was a permeant suspension with no wording it could be appealed. I called in immediately and was asked standard questions like your asking for a limit increase. With 5 minutes my account was reinstated. I have sold on here for a very long time, thats a first for me.

New type of suspension.

I just got suspended this way today, no appeal and no further details, 2 days after uploading my ID.

"We wanted to let you know that your eBay account has been permanently suspended because of activity that we believe was putting the eBay community at risk. We understand that this must be frustrating, but this decision was not made lightly and it’s important that we keep our marketplace safe for everyone. Learn more about how and why accounts can be suspended."

There was no MC011, it was just "Your account has been suspended". The questions asked as I said were basically the same you get asked during limit increases. Maybe I got lucky, I don't know. I have never called in and got a suspension lifted on the phone, it's never happened until today. And this was basic customer support that did it, not merchant support.

That's the old high risk perm ban email. But you said you were able to call in and got reinstated?? Wth...

I mean it's great that you did, but I have never seen this and got an account saved.

I don't think so, but maybe you're right. I admit I haven't made that many new accounts since 2014-2015 timeframe. I still have made enough to see how eBay navigates these things. "Good news! You’re all set to start selling again", was the response title to be reinstated. Every suspension does not say this, it usually via SR#, and says "in light of further details" etc.

The agent I talked to did say he had to request to get my account reinstated over the phone. Which again, I never seen happen. I have called eBay so many times, and never this. Maybe I was lucky, but seems more like a new type of restriction for suspected drop shipping accounts/listing fast with quick sales on a newer account.

Last year was brutal. I lost literally every account I had. However, they were all young accounts - only a couple months old.

This year was SO much easier on me. Have not lost a single account :) It really is crazy how much stronger an aged account can hold up. These were all 6-12+ month accounts.

I forget when it ended last year, but I think it was mid/late Jan to early Feb

Can you get another account suspended then call back in to see if it works again?

=D

At this point all my accounts are at least 10+ years old.

Haven't gotten any suspension

For me I realize that my number one downfall is selling product I don't have on hand. Although I have inventory, it does help to sometimes have product listed, sell, then buy it. It's more a greed thing I think, because if taken over time its not needed. Ebay is extremely strict with item not received cases opened. It is relaxed on aged accounts but if you are newer, you can't have many stack up otherwise you're going to get MC011, no doubts.

Everyone is different though. I don't buy into the narrative they restrict account for fast sales. They do, but properly managed accounts within like a 6 month timeframe, by the 6th month you can generate 20k+ USD per month. It's whether or not you manage shipping and cases that is the worst side effect of increased transactions.
