Deadline to change tax info
 

I have a handful of accounts that I'd like to modify the tax information on. With EOY coming up in a few days, however, I'm wondering if any changes would be fully reflected in the tax form that eBay remits to the IRS @ the beginning on 2023

My understanding currently is that ebay will submit sales/tax info to the IRS circa Jan 1 of the new year, with whatever information is on file AT THAT TIME. Eg if you have certain tax info on December 30, but change it on the 31st, it is the NEW tax info that will be sent out... not the OLD info

Am I correct in my understanding? Does anyone know the answer to this?

I thought that as long as you make the changes before the deadline to pay taxes which is what... april 14th ?that's where they'll send it to

As far as I am aware, without the hassle of a w9 later, you need to do it by the end of the year. Even if the last day of the year.

Is a W9 used when you want to submit information to the IRS that differs from the information that eBay has on file? For example, to correct a mistake or provide entity information other than the one eBay has? Sorry, not familiar with it

Either way what's the point of waiting... just do it now.

Well, I'm trying to first understand the risk of changing ones account info... even if the account is a healthy and aged account

There is surprisingly little info about this on the forums. None, actually :/

Kind of logical the risk of changing info...get flag for suspicious activity or flagged for potential account hijacking...ask to submit all info...and still get banned...
