U.S. only shipping - how can this happen then?

Hello all,

This has me baffled, we have a listing (7 day auction) and settings on ebay are set to "NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING" and even looking at the shipping tab shows only United States.

Also, the listing itself was setup with no intl. shipping as well as block buyers from other countries, people who dont have paypal etc. etc.

So.... how is it possible our auction just got won by a ZERO feedback buyer from AUSTRALIA who just signed up today on ebay????

What am I missing here? Is ebay totally geared for the buyer and screw the seller and let them worry about the fiasco which is to follow?

We had to request cancellation and hope the buyer does/does not respond within 7 days UGHHHHH!!!!!!

Whats the solution to this?

YOU HAVE to set the settings though the eBay account page.

Here's how:

1) Go to your "My eBay" page.

2) Hover your mouse arrow over account and click "Site Preferences"

3) Scroll down and click "Show" next to "Buyer Requirements" and then click "Edit"

4) Then check the box that says "Buyers in countries to which I don't ship.

thanks TheyGotMeToo,

Maybe I was a bit unclear in my 1st sentence.

The settings in ebay prefrences are set to this, as well as auction page and it still happened.

In fact, this is the 2nd time this has happened but on 2 seperate accounts

I just dont get it other than maybe it's something wrong in ebays system?

it's a glitch.... I have had it happen to me and seen it reported on the Ebay Forums.

Ebay should deal with the cancellation if you can bare to message them

CaptainJack.

thanks CaptainJack,

I was truly baffled and couldnt locate any setting in which I had missed. Nonetheless, buyer agreed to cancel transaction thankfully - but we did lose the sale due to this 'glitch' and are now hoping the second-chance offer to next buyer will be a success.

I'll add this - eBay the behemoth, truly sucks!

Same thing happened to me. Setup buyer requirements and made sure No international was checked off when listing. Still got someone from the UK. I just charged them extra for shipping and away it went.

Crap crap....... has happened again from another buyer in Australia.

Now I'm wondering if this is a competitor screwing with my listings?

And ebays system of having to ask buyer to cancel a transaction to a country I dont ship to is COMPLETE CRAP!!!!!

Why is this able to continue to happen

happened to me as well. I could not figure it out as to why, ebay was no help. I did as burst did, charged them the shipping.

the thing was in my situation, the buyer did not notice it said no international shipping etc. and said he was sorry for his mistake. He the buyer said please find out the shipping amount and apply it. Transaction went through smoothly and buyer has purchased other items since.

sometimes we do get lucky

I think I located the problem of why this is happening?

Under ACCOUNT / SITE PREFERENCES / BUYER REQUIREMENTS

our setting for "NO" somehow mysteriously reverted back to "YES" WTF!!!!

Needless to say, we will now be checking this every login prior to listing anything!

** On another strange note - when listing an item & under ADD REMOVE OPTIONS FOR LISTING.......by default, somehow donate to charity had now mysteriously been checked to "YES"

Those ebay b*stards are sneaky at digging into our pockets!
