I have an Sri Lanka ebay account , Just wonder if i can set item location in USA and ship from USA ???

Yes you can. Just be prepared to answer and questions that might be asked of you.

If you're legit then you'll be fine, if not then it's clearly going to cause an issue.

If it is a mature account there should be no problem, if you have not signed up for MP then those details are required.

if you are in Sri Lanka and items location is USA,it may ask for manufacturer invoice to prove you do have them .

On a new account, I had a restriction imposed for the item location being in a different town but same province and country, when I got hit with a restriction and called customer service, they grilled me on the issue - I think for a new account the item location should match the registered location (for the early stages). The account that was suspended for the reason mentioned above was eventually reinstated after the call.

Of course you can. But I would list some random items with review photos for 2-3 weeks, then end those items and start list normal from USA. Im doing that in my accounts and all good.

So I have some well established accounts (almost 10 years old, several hundred feedbacks) I was under the impression that the ship from location (which I assume is the same as the item location) needs to be at least somewhat close to the actual ship from location.

So... If my ship from location (item location) is Dallas, TX it needs to be at least shipped from one of the surrounding suburb towns.

Am I under the wrong assumption?

Yes you are.


There is no policy which says the item location must match the registered address (clearly it can't for many businesses) but for new accounts I guess it might attract interest from ebay as part of their initial vetting process but not for established ones for sure.

So the item location may say New York,NY and ship from LA and ebay won't care?

It does not make sense,you would just confuse the buyer.
and the time to deliver the item?is based on where NYC or LA?

BUYER would look at the estimate delivery date,when you list the item,look at the delivery date
