To sell on ebay EU sites ebay asks me to upgrade to a business account
 

Hi
I have two accounts. Weirdly with one I can sell on ebay.fr and ebay.de with no problem but for the other it asks for upgrading to a business account.
I don't have a company how can I do it?
And can I choose a random country with random address?
And what are the disadvantages of upgrading to a business account? (I don't have a store for my listings on ebay)

They were both stealth bought from different person at different times. I don't remember how they were set up.

that could be why one account is functioning in a different way- without out business info, how would you upgrade

How can I upgrade it without having a company? And what are the disadvantages of business account over private sellers.

Are you not able to upgrade to business account as a sole trader? This way you don't need a company.
Are these accounts with real details?

Yes they are with real details. I can upgrade to business but not sure about it is going to be better for me or not. Do I need a real company? Or will ebay cut more fees from business account?
For example I don't have a store on ebay and can list items for free now. Is that going to change?

EBay will not charge more selling fees than a private seller, just convert the account as a sole trader.

You will have to create one.

The EU is beefing up it's accountability to the authorities for sales and taxation. The UK is following suit very soon.

Expect .FR and .DE to change their criteria too.

Details of your sales will be sent to the tax collection department(s) and you may be asked to account for your activity - I'm assuming you're not paying any tax to each countries collection department?

I'm guessing, like Amazon UK, they will decide that it is highly unlikely that a private seller would be based in another country, particularly if you're selling new goods. The simplest solution for them is to make a blanket policy that all non-residents shipping into the country are businesses and must register accordingly. I kinda get it, it keeps them sweet with the relevant authorities too.

It's the future, best get used to it and adapt accordingly.

Yes they will, there are no free listings for businesses and they pay higher FVF's on some sites.

Indeed, Germany have ditched FVF's for private sellers. They can't have been making much from it, but I guess we all knew that genuine private sales on ebay now amount to nothing as it is now dominated by businesses.

They also know that those businesses hiding behind private seller accounts will abandon their accounts in droves now that the new accounting procedures are in place.

yes - these fvf can hurt the ppl who dont realize it and think upgrading is a great option
