I thought it was the other way around!
Before Ebay comes down hard on retail arbitrage,some sellers were making a fortune listing AMZN items on Ebay,one local accountant said he has a client who made $22k a month on just 25 cents profit on each item,I thought he was drunk,but he said it is true?
There was software they can subscribe which find the AMZN items and list them on EBay for them and continue monitor AMZN level of inventory and adjust their eBAY Listings accordingly,of course Ebay caught on and banned it.
THEN they do the same with Costco,Sam Club.
The number has thinned out and hardly any profit made.
In fact buyers retaliate by filing dispute and force them to issue return shipping label.

amazon has higher prices , it is in fact a great business idea under the condition that a stable business on amazon is built up

But AMZN sell mostly new consumer staples,Ebay sells used,refurbished,broken,new but been in storage ,counterfeit,knockoff!

I sell mostly books I bought for resale and used DVD from my personal collection.
Hardly make any money after fees and shipping but glad to rid them

EBay prices aren't really that cheap if you know the TRUE cost from the factories. Hardly any margin if any unless you're boating mega inventory from China. O(5000-10000k dollar orders if not more) I have a few direct connections to name-brand Chinese factories that move a lot on eBay and Amazon, and I cannot even profit from midlevel wholesale buying that is in the 500-1k dollar range.
