Strange bidder in auction..

I have running 5 auctions on one account. Things are used retro items and absolutely unrelated in between - bicycle parts kit, retro tool box, vintage vase, old fishing equipment, motorcycle muffler. This is local adds and i clearly stated that only a pickups are available paying cash.

Now yesterday someone with 0 feedback and recently registered in different country placed bids on 4 of 5 of my auctions. What a heck is this? Someone trying to ruin my auctions, or to take me down or building new account and needs some "activity history" or else??

I somehow suspect that user is not gonna buy anything at all. What can i do? If i block him- would his bids be retracted? Also is blocking safe? because had some experience when got suspended next day after blocking a few buyers. Its one week left for each auction. How should i react? Or should i react at all?

I would let it run, let the buyer win the auction and if he does not pay in the specified time then you can go in and cancel the auction and they can not leave negative feedback, that will leave your account clean, they may be building up a stealth account by bidding and hoping to lose.

it's up to you. YOu can cancel the bid then block the guy or let him bid and if he doesn't pay you report the guy

Ignore any advice to let the bids run and then potentially win the auction, that's just plain stupid.

Cancel their bids, block them - job done.

As it's collection only then you can block all foreign bidders via your account/listing settings in case they have a second account.

Plain stupid is to end the auction which allows the bidder to leave feedback, in case you are not aware highest bidders are now allowed to leave feedback when an auction is cancelled by the seller, its all about the buyer experience from eBay, that is why they changed the rules. Five negative feedbacks will kill the account from a buyers stand point. If it was one listing bid on then I agree, as it was 5 I stand by my advice.

Who said anything about cancelling the auction!

Cancel their bids (at the risk of repeating OP, they're on the other side of the planet for a collection only item), block them, and they will not be allowed to win the auction nor leave negative feedback.

Jeez, I sometimes wonder if some posters on here are actual sellers!

Let them run my arse...... :pound:

Re: Strange bidder in auction..

some sellers would require buyer with x number of positive feedback,if he has zero feedback, his bid would be cancelled.
But I would let it run, there is one more week before auction ends, many ebayers have multiple ebay ids,for browsing, selling, buying, mischief.
why dont you email him and ask him if he is aware it is cash and local pickup!MANY BIDDERS DO NOT READ

Well put, that would be my recommendation.

what is their country of registration?

it is better to cancel bids and put them on blocked bidder list

We might not always agree but when we do you can be damn sure the advice is correct.

Yet some on here insanely suggested they let the bids run. Beyond belief.

No not insanity but experience talking, there is two schools of thought on here and the ones that says let it run have been forum members for a long time. The OP will make there choice and suffer any consequence, if any depending on how they handle it.

Please explain to us, from your experience, what the consequences would be and how they would suffer if they cancel the foreigners bids on a collection only auction and block them.

Stop digging....

Precisely - saves seller problems

Re: Strange bidder in auction..

I would not take the risk of accepting such bidders on "thin" seller accounts where only a few items are sold and especially if the prices are high

with larger accounts and many sales of cheap items such issues could be ignored if no mass bids by the same user are placed , with mass bids I would block them as well and would not ship to them

I usually accept such orders if total value is below 20-30 pounds and if the number of transactions is not more than 3-4 otherwise I cancel all orders and block them

Re: Strange bidder in auction..

So coming back to this just to let know how it ended.

Somehow buyer with a zero feedback pumped up bids on 3 of my auctions at insane hights and account got suspended. All my items in similar auctions goes away for 50-150 usd, but he got pumped it up to 250, 400, 450 usd and eventually ebay suspended that account.

Now i do not know what was the point to win thous auctions because for sure he/she had no intentions to buy any of thous things for X3 price. I see this as some kind personal attack and i can not understand WHY..

Anyway, lesson learned, in a future will cancel and will block everyone with zero feedback.

Lesson learned indeed, I'm not sure why you thought it wouldn't end up in this mess.

As I mentioned above, whilst you can't block new bidders even with zero feedback, you can block foreign bidders.

Someone else will have to confirm, but can you still also block buyers who don't have a valid method of payment on file. Scammers rarely do.
