Stupid question.

But when does eBay ask for a phone number?

I'm in the process of starting some new stealths and in the old days when I registered my current active aged ones I used VOIP numbers to start them. Now I'm using real phones so the cost of having multiple numbers running at the same time can add up. And the longer they run, the more.

So when do they ask for one? I contacted a seller about an item while doing browsing work and I think that's the first time they asked for a number- but it may have been an address.


Also, when is it considered "safe" to list your first item? How many days?

As soon as you list your first item they ask for a phone number, personally I browse on the account for about 3 weeks and if possible bid on auctions that you know you are going to be outbid on as it builds buying activity. Then list your first item as auction only with pickup available (nobody ever does but it makes the stealth address look genuine to the account) I would then list 2 in the second week still at auction. Slow and steady avoids detection, usually after 2 months and about 10 sales they will suspend payments and put the account under review for 5 days, if it passes review then you are good to go, the payment 14 day hold will stop and you will get paid the day after tracked delivery is confirmed, also you can increase the listings steadily and build more sales.

If I have the same MP information on about 15-16 other accounts and use the same ayden info on these new "stealths" if one of these new one gets suspended under review will the other established accounts be linked?

The general consensus on here is that MP accounts do not get linked, probably as it’s ayden’s own system not linked into eBay’s bot’s and reviews.

Yes it has been reported that you can put your real SSN into MP with the account name is different.

When your account inevitably gets flagged and shut down after some sales do you have to speak with an ebay rep on the phone?

If it's for re-activation, then yes you would have to call them to re-verify. They're going to ask if you still have the same phone number you've signed up with MP on.

I'm creating new accounts and slowly aging them/listing suff that won't sell. When I start actually selling though there is some expectation that the account will be flagged. I'm wondering at that point if I will have to call in.

In reality, eBay only asks for a mobile phone number when registering as a seller and listing items for the first time.
Important: eBay will ask for phone number confirmation if you log in from a different computer without cookies. So, it's best to keep cookies and you don't necessarily need a live phone number.

There shouldn't be any flags unless there was a creation/set-up issue with your account. Which also goes along with getting "re-activated", but in chance if you do get that then having the phone number could save the account.

I guess the real question is do I need an active phone # with an ebay account at all times? Experience on aged accounts tells me no but on new accounts post MP I have no experience in creating and grooming accounts in this era.
