[eBay] - Sales down - traffic down

Sales have fallen a lot lately, compared to the relevance of the listings which is always the same. Traffic on eBay is getting very low. I'm talking about the IT marketplace
Do any of you have similar experience in other marketplaces as well?

Traffic is down everywhere in almost all categories.
Less $$ to spend after paying rent/mortgage,food,services,not to mention many IT savvy buyers are those who have been layoff since 2022.

I felt this across all marketplaces including Depop - Mercari - Poshmark.

Yes, big time drop in sale on eBay, you sir are not alone.

Spent the past 4 months building my shopify store, got approved for AWS and now working on my crypt project, got to get money coming in and eBay just not bringing in enough, the past 6 months bad, the last 2, dreadful.

Not yet, its just finished and showing up on google last week after i included a site map and added the relevant info to google, i hope that can move away from eBay for good, but it's like a flipping drug.

Re: [eBay] - Sales down - traffic down

People buy what they need, not what they like .
If you are selling what they need and cheaper than a store, like toothpaste, lenswipe, vitamins, packing tapes, computer paper, shampoo, razor etc, then you will get decent sales

eBay MAU's have been dropping for over 2 years. I believe from Q1 2021 to now it is about 30 million.

People buy from Amazon mainly... amazon has stolen their customers.

Re: [eBay] - Sales down - traffic down

I've just signed in to ask this question myself, speaking with friends in the IT market one of which was seeing 20k days across several accounts has hit a sharp decline. Shopify sales are increasing only due to taking on an expensive marketing company to take care of things. My prognosis is that people are paying off debts, booking holidays (uk airports are heaving!) and all the bank holidays haven't helped this month.

I'll make a seperate thread but im wondering whether advanced promotions have affected the numbers, is there a new thing the algo is looking for? Some of my competitors are still generating over 300 feedbacks per month which in theory is 30% of the customer base. We are hitting around 20 right now and are top rated

Re: [eBay] - Sales down - traffic down

It is not just little guys like you and me,big companies are reporting less sales,Ultra Beauty Supply finally tanked,Bestbuy,Target, even DOLLAR General dues to shelf shrinkage ??
Walmart does better as it sells grocery,Costco is selling less,
shoppers are trading down, instead of going to specialty stores for gourmet cheeese and deli meat, wine, they are going to regular supermarkets.
those who were going to super, now go to dollar stores.
There are also a lot of cheating at self check out.
Not much money is left after spending on grocery, utilities.

That's a game changer I only use Amazon because of free returns. And the refund is issued once the item is in the post here in the UK

Re: [eBay] - Sales down - traffic down

In the past,if you go to an AMZN dropoff place like Kohl Dept store, all you have to do is drop it off,now it is charging $6 or $8.
Now if this is so,then some may not want to shop on AMZN,they can find the same item on Ebay from Ebay retail arbitragers and file INAD and EBAY will make the seller accept return and pick up return shipping/
