call ebay requirement (new account)

What will happen?

I have an account I created last month. I didn't log into it since I created it but today I tried to log in and ebay said something like "we've notice you're using a different computer give us a call"

I haven't added anything to this account (phone number, address etc)

Should I call them or just leave the account and create another? what will they most likely say or ask? Has anyone else here had that experience?

Sounds like egay is noticing you logging in from a new IP. I have not had anything happen leaving it as is and continuing browsing a while. Is it forcing you to call before you can proceed or just suggesting it? I always avoid calling egay unless absolutely necessary

ebay won't let me log in. It informs me that I must call.

If you want the account then you have to call in, they'll probably ask you your account details etc...give it a shot you got nothing to lose as you can't access it anyway, let us know how it goes.

Usually that happens with a suspended account. Never a good sign. I think they ask database questions to verify you, unless you're lucky and get an agent to clear your account without it.

Best call and get it over with, a new IP should not cause this, it’s strange keep us updated.

It just a glitch from ebay just close the browser and reopen it then it should works fine

Re: call ebay requirement (new account)

Update: I was able to log in and didn't have to call. Ebay of course asked me to verify details (phone number and address) when clicked "my ebay" and things like that. I entered address and a brand new phone number. real phone (not voip or app).

I don't want to try to list anything yet maybe in a day or so I'll list either a pack of batteries or a box of prophylactics as my girlfriend has agreed to let me go bare as long as I don't get her pregnant (before she is ready). One other option is to list a used roku stick that I no longer use.

Hopefully they won't suspend me. I will let you all know by the end of this week.

p.s. account was created Jun 8th, 2023 and I still have the default username so maybe I should wait a week before listing anything

When you start listing do a $0.99 start auction item for 7 days, your Roku should be OK.

Same thing here. I created German ebay acc with german IP address. Tried to log in but I got same messagge, need to call them, I didnt even entered my address or phone number.

Tried to restart the browser but same thing over and over again.

Do you have any suggestions? How did you managed to pass that?

99 cents auction should be ok.

99 Cents buy it now is iffy at best.

Maybe even set a reserve price for the auction?

Because it works... My listing just ended at 11:04PM EDT and even though it didn't sell or get any bids and only got 3 views. At least I didn't get suspended and still have my limit of 200 items or $7,000 (whichever comes first)

thank you SaiJin (marry me) love you thank you degsey (be my mentor)

thank you all, love you all

Re: call ebay requirement (new account)

For those interested, I created a stealth about two weeks ago. When I logged in(from the same IP, I did get a message asking for verification and to call). I called ebay and they unlocked everything. This is a business account in the US with MP, and I have a 2MIl limit, I am sure they will curtail it in a bit? So far on the 10th item selling and all is well. Really have a feeling at least in the US, they are doing some kind of credit check and posting limits cautiously or accordingly.

If you start a new account listing as a low amount auction say $0.99 it is seen by the bots to be exceptable and non threatening to them.
I recommend all new personal seller accounts to start like that and the first few listing sales will go through easily and build up a selling record.
You can charge shipping which I also recommend, and you may lose money on these first sales, it’s the cost of building a new account up with a lesser threat of suspension.
I also recommend that you offer buyer pickup as it shows that your address is real, even if it’s not. The greater majority of the time no buyer will ask to pick up, this can be including in the first few listings and left off afterwards.

when you say "address is real" you mean an address that exist in the postal database or real as in an address you have access to or both?
