EBay has a policy of guranteeing watches sold on Ebay are authentic,so it sounds like what is going on here,an outside company offering escrow service, the way I understand how escrow works is that it holds your money until buyer is happy with the watch, then it releases the $$ to you and if he wants to return the watch,Ebay will allow it up to 7days.
(5 figures antique watches and pocket watches change hands on Ebay )
years ago a Florida shop which sells antique watches and pocket watches sold a $48K pocket watch on Ebay to a buyer in Midwest, shipped Fed Exp with insurance.
The buyer wants to return the item,so it sent a Fed Exp tag with no insurance for the buyer to return the watch.
When Fed Exp delivered the package to its store, the clerk noticed the weight is lighter,so i called the police and opened the box,the watch is not there.
They filed a police report and reported to Ebay,Ebay said they have x number of days to refund, else Ebay will do it for them.
and It should take up the issue with Fed Exp.
But Fed Exp policy is $1k for jewelry.
You should review this escrow policy and find out how it works
from escrow.com
Escrow.com will send you instructions on how to fund your account with a wire transfer from your bank.
----
so no credit card payment,no chargeback.
and seller has 5 days to examine the return,
good policy for seller.
armitron watch is not expensive,I doubt your buyer opts to use Escrow as wire transfer has a fee

THEN THERE is no need for escrow

I doubt too many sellers would like to pay the credit card fee if buyer pays with his credit card. unless he has included the fee in his asking price .
If the buyer returns the watch, the reversal is considered a credit entry and there is also a small fee from the processor
In the early days of Ebay, escrow also existed for anyone who opts to use it.
It is offered by a third party
