Ebay shadow banning

Hi all

I have a brand new stealth ebay UK account.

I always put 1 product on with a very cheap price to get the balling rollong.

It's currently about 55% cheaper than my other similar (almost identical) products and I even put the promoted ad rate to a whopping 50%.

It simply won't sell. Views are stuck at 7 although I'm sure it said 8 before. Is this some sort of shadow banning?

It won't come up in search results unless I search for the exact title word for word.

With 50% promoted listing fee it should be coming up right?

I do not use promoted listing, but I have one item with 220 views and no watcher and no buyer.

Have you tried changing the listing title, I try to use one that will get the reviews attached to it, also when listing I click on another listing of the item and use info that they use.

If you put a big promotional amount it tends to stop views, you need to be at the recommended or 1/2 percentage above.

Hi I recently made the price absurdly low with 50% promoted listing rate. Still no views or buyers. Yet the same item on my other account gets sales at 7x the price with only a 12% promoted listing rate.

I'm certain it's shadow banned somehow

Thanks I will change the promotional amount. Maybe I will edit the title too to try and "jog" it into action.

I have been getting very surprised recently with sales within 45 minutes of listing, a new account usually has to wait for 24 hours before it shows, this one is 8 months old.

I promote everything at the recommended percentage and go to a successful listing of the same product and click I have one to sell, so all the boxes are filled in for you, usually the product will have a lot of stars and reviews, so I amend their title slightly so my listing retains the stars as well. Always give a good lengthy product description, copy it from another website. Take good pictures of the product, or copy from another website, being aware companies like HP will put a VERO complaint in if you use some of their images.

so it seem, ebay does do shadow ban for sure.
See an example, usually Microsoft office products do have lots of view or interest, but in this case, it has 0 view compare to an dj software or an old iphone.

hmm could be that the use of the brand name is causing a shadow ban indeed

Hold on a second guys, why are we so hell bent on views? A true shadow ban would mean the impressions would stay at zero at stagnant.

What’s the impressions on the listing. Views are when a buyer clicks the item not sees it.

Sounds more like this crappy economy than anything else

Correct, but what's interesting is that, in the past ebay just remove a high risk software like Micro _oft and sent a warning, but this time they just decided to shadow ban it. I have not seen that before, this is new to me.

Micro_oft office especially this time of the year sells alot, gift or none gift, i know as I have sold in the past, if there was another not so knowing brand then I would say just luck of traffic or interest or the bad economy.

Well what’s the impressions on the listing? You have to remember that ebay made a change in 2023 and had introduced krylov integration with ebay Cassini .

Which means they don’t show identical products to users. This aids in BBE.

If your listing is still getting impressions, bump up the promotions or use other keywords and be competitive in price.

They are filtering results for sure, the 24hr wait to go live is proof alone.

This is not new, depending on how much the account is untrusted, I have seen new accounts take a few days to appear. This is nothing new, must wait it out

might need to check business model and get back up accounts going to build new sales then

SammySquare 11-20-2023 06:12 PM

Re: Ebay shadow banning

A true test would be to check the impressions on the listing, and then repost the item on another acc and check the impressions on that listing. Not checking views. Views are not a strong measurement.

I compared with my other account views and impression. With 10k views other account has 6millions impressions almost 10x more

Yeah it sounds like red flags from what your saying, but I would like to know the impressions on just that one listing. Do you know how to check?

Have you tried searching for the item via another eBay account? That will give you the best idea of whats happening
