You can’t change the name & bday of your old account because it’ll look like an ATO (account takeover) especially it’s been dormant for so long. It looks like someone stole the credential and tried to take over the account to eBay.
To add insult to injury, eBay previously did not have your SSN. You can easily create a new real account since the last suspended one is a decade ago. They might link it to your new account if they do a thorough check, but that would only happen if you appeal a restriction of MC011. If you use a different address in a different city, you’d be good for a long time provided you don’t sell too much too fast.
I can’t believe the Japanese mod told you to go ahead. You’ve now ruined your
working account because they’re think it’s being taken over by someone unauthorized, they normally just suspend those dormant accounts since you hadn’t used it in a while. Meanwhile, your SSN is tied to it.
You majorly F’ed up. Quote:

i never gave ebay my SSN.
I don't even think I gave Paypal my SSN back in the day, so that number is clean.
Ok, sounds like I will enter my real name/SSN into my old account that is still in good standing and report back. Thanks everybody

You majorly F’ed up. | Lol this is 100% false.
My aged account was stealth over 10 years ago which had a different name. I’m so thankful I have it, and upgraded to MP with it. Making a new account poses much more risk and you are subject to many more audits by security. Majority of what you said is complete nonsense. |

Welp tried to enter my real name and bank account and all it says is "Your account is limited. Please contact us."
oh well... | You changed the name on your stealth account to your own information? |

changing information will generally not create problems |

changing information will generally not create problems | This stuff gave me anxiety from 2019-2021. In the back of my mind I always thought once I had to upgrade it was over with my account. I cannot speak on what happens now, but when I did it in 2021 all that happened was my personal name section was removed, my real name was then shown at the top welcome area.
Without going into detail my account had some issues in 2022, I did get it restored this year thankfully. When I say issues that includes eBay legal team removing a specific restriction. If internally it showed anywhere my old name I highly doubt they would have helped me.
At the end of the day, eBay was not facilitating payments so it was not illegal to operate under a different name. I still have some emails that show my old stealth name, but for all the information eBay would be seeing that matters reflects my personal name now. |

Majority of what you said is complete nonsense. | The difference is you’ve been actively using the account but OP was not. So when he logged in and changed personal info on a dormant account, that’s a big red flag for eBay. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 06:38 PM.
