Hi,
Has anyone created any new UK accounts recently. I have never had a problem using mix matched names on ebay and the bank account (Halifax) until recently

It now appears that ebay deposits 1 pence and then takes it back a few days later rather than the usual 2 deposits that you have to confirm amounts. this has then flagged that they can't "verify the account"

I assume when they take the money back it gives them the information on the account name?

Yes, when a bank deposits to PP, the info is then shown.

Unless something has changed recently this shouldn't be a problem

I don' think the initial deposit shows them anything its when they now take it back which is definitely a new process?

right when they deposit to bank, they can't see the bank name.
When bank deposits back that's when they can.

That is what I assume, are you confirming this? I see your not from the Uk so please do not make assumptions unless you actually know

Halifax and Barclays both have this issue

SaiJin is correct here about the deposit info from the bank OP - I have HSBC UK-based and that's my own experience.

OP, there are better ways to word your messages directed at longtime members let alone purple names [moderators]

The problem is that the bank's details do not match those on eBay and that is what causes problems.

Hi, Does anyone have a workaround for this please as I have been hit with the same problem, the bank verification comes before having to submit passport so can you register the ebay account with the same name as the bank and then change it later to match your" creative" passport?

or another way as I am stuck

Nat West is still OK to use, they do not question the deposits.

Sorry just to confirm with NatWest eBay are unable to then see the account name on the account when they take the deposit back.
With Halifax and HSBC the deposit is fine going in it's when eBay takes it back that's the problem

feels like regardless of bank, when deposit is taken back, the name generated on the receipt will be the true bank owner name

So does anyone have a work around with this please? I am thinking of changing the name on the account to register the bank and the changing it later to match the ID

It happened to my new stealth as well, apparently it’s some new thing we have to deal with :(

I have opened a chase account on the off chance this may work, given it's not a main stream uk bank., will check back once it's approved

there is no real workaround i know of - changing the name later to match ID I havent tried because I feel that it would trip security flags but I have seen in other posts, a member or 2 have commented on being able to do...perhaps they can post about the experience again
