Warning red flags when creating new accounts
 

So I've noticed one definite red flag when making new accounts - the captcha. This basically means don't even bother proceeding.

I just made a bunch of accounts and noticed some of them asked for immediate phone verification while others didn't.
I also noticed one of them showed a different sign up screen without any images, although I didn't get a captcha or phone verification.

Can anyone advise if immediate phone verification or the alternate sign up screen put the accounts in high risk?

I got captcha every time when creating new account. They survive but after paid got reactivate account email.

It is relative, not every time you request telephone verification the account will die, or not always if they do not ask for the account it will live

What I'm looking for here are flag indicators such as the Captcha.
The captcha clearly means a weak account.

The captcha dont mean weak account. I get it everytime. The thing is The captcha allows them to look into your user account lookin for suspect activities on the user account. I read somewhere anytime any website give you a captcha they looking at your cookies/activities....Keep in mind if its a new user account its nothing to look at lol..I go to Google and look around for cars etc before i build accounts. Most of my accounts survive.

You are still getting the reactivates?

Been getting hit with them no matter what phone, device or IP I use.

Reactivates never used to last this long ever.

Yes. But its depend on day. Today for example i got reactivate right after listing, no matter what i list.
Today no any account has survived

I don't know if this has anything to do with the eBay situation you guys are encountering, but my grandfathered amazon account now needs a phone pin or Auth app pin.

I couldn't choose phone or auth app, and it's random now.

But I have no problems with the account so far. It's been at least a month now

Truthfully, I can't really say.

It doesn't seem to be centered off one platform.

For example, I get a listing removal on a specific item I sell on eBay. That same item I list on mercari also gets taken down within minutes of the eBay.

Only thing I know is, these companies are implementing AI without the oversight of a human it seems.

lot of details lacking on your end for example what category of sales - that makes a difference....let alone the the exact item itself

Are you creating the accounts under info of people that match or ⊗⊗⊗⊗ details?

Seems like a mixed bag for me. Some ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info works or gets it. Real info works and then other times it requires ID after trying to submit listing.

I'm sure there's a human that set the level of the AI / bot.
We just don't know what "level" it's on.

It kind sounds like the AI bot is just going outside of the platform to search for that one particular thing?

Last year was high as getting removals every 30 minutes, suspensions of accounts where they were not touched for months being linked together.

It's still at a level of being stupid as a lot of other sellers have pointed out on various forums. This with endless verification requests, reactivates, glitches, etc.

I give it till the end of this year, if not. I am out of eBay and focusing elsewhere.

No way these screwups should be continuing for this long.

Thing is for those who left, the space will be filled by new sellers =/

I don't think quitting completely is the way to go.

I know it's tough when we have to adjust and figure out a new way

Yes i know, but anyway. List whatever you want brand or not brand anyway get reactivate message.

Try a different device.

Don't know what it is but my s24 seems to get hit with more reactivate or verify identity requests than my Iphone 11.

used or new watches,plenty of counterfeits out there,Rolex has a lawyer who would send you an email.

I just created an account and had captcha but didn’t request SSN. Just name, address, and confirm phone number. Which is odd because usually they ask for your last 4 digits of the SSN before the auction listing goes live.

I didn't realise captchas can view browser history outside ebay. So it would be best to view other websites outside ebay and search for some items on search engines, as well as ebay browsing for a few weeks before creating an account?

In these cases, the best thing is to continue selling and understanding how the system works now and continue selling, not stop learning and asking questions.

Actually this captcha request kind of rings true for Poshmark. When I get hit with it when creating an account and making a listing, they ghost the account with the listing removed.

When I don't get hit with captcha, account sells fine.

It's not even just on eBay. These AI bots have been messing it up on other platforms as well.

Mercari, Etsy, Poshmark.

Listing removals, BS account closures. None of it having to do with logical reasons.

I have to concur, the AI bots are rampant.

So far the best way is to make new accounts, but also prepare the docs and papers that'll be needed later on.

Basically assume you'll get these reactivation crap

try to browse a bit on ebay and dont sign up right away on ebay

hi, I use virtual machine with windows 11, use mobile hot spot, and real sim numbers, and then register buyer account and browse few times and then wait 30 days to register seller account and still get reactivate message, any too you can advise here thanks

yes mostly 1-2 out of 20 was going through, now not even I have been able to for almost a week
