does the mobile number matter?
 

Let's assume that I have a mobile phone, that number is linked to a suspended account but they have no connections with me, many people change numbers,
etc. could this cause a suspension? does the mobile number itself matter or must be more connections for the seller to be linked and suspended?

this is one of the grey areas - since eb stores a lot of info and can cros-ref easily...if an account is suspended with this number, it would be an easy suspension for any new account pending id verification....like not a 100 percent suspension but verification of id documents...

however, if the old account with that same number did high amounts of fraud or vero sales, it might just be a hard suspension with no chance of appeal

It is highly unlikely two accounts will have the same phone number

It is unlikely that a platform will let you use the same phone number, I explained the same number for the same eBay account, although if possible it simply should not cause a suspension.
In some countries, operators use numbers again and assign them to others.

let me throw some more light on this.

Ebay most likely uses lexisnexis for checks, hence, a soft ware called tmx.With this software, many financial institutions make use of this.a simple input of your mobile number into the software and it will show all links to this mob no, including the device used, the digital finger prints of the device, time the mob no was first seen ever,whatever other accs the mob no has been linked to etc....


also if you pop into a shop and buy sims...lexisnexis can see the mob no pattern of the purchased sims and ebay most likely will know youve been to a shop to purchase recently hence the suspension.

so yes mob no is very important!!!

I used my real mobile number that had been banned on an account 15 years ago to ring up a customer services rep about another account I created using another account I was having issues with. I thought surely that information would be removed or they wouldn't check, but the customer service rep demanded to know as soon as I called why was I using a phone number associated with a banned account. I told him I was using a relative's phone.

In the UK, we have 2 customer reps, the ones in the Phillipines, and the ones in Ireland (so ebay can avoid paying corporation tax in the UK ) the Irish ones seem to have more information and more powers to restrict your account.

Do not ever reuse a mobile phone on an account that was previously banned. Ever
