Hi,
I've been sellig for about 2 months and haven't had an issue. I havent chagend bank details or anything but have just received a message from ebay stating 'We couldn't verify the bank account information you provided.' even though I havent chanegd any bank account details. They are now asking for microdeposits. Is this normal?

True, 2024 new accounts meet this problem, let Ebay verify again will be fine

I had that crap happen with 2 accounts of mine 2 months ago. While waiting for the deposits, they got suspended due to suspicious activity.

Have a feeling their little bots sniffed something on the account.

Not normal on my end but I've seen some people getting these issues.
Is microdeposits the only option they are giving you?

When the error first came up they let me choose between microdeposits and a bank statement. I chose microdeposits and are still waiting for them to arrive.

I rang up eBay yesterday and they told me it's normal as they didn't do it when I first opened the account. I also got them to check over my account and they said nothing else is wrong with it.

This happened to me last week. I verified it. Then the account got suspended for no reason few days later.

I am also curious about this. Is ebay able to see the names do not match once they withdraw the microdeposits?

id like to think ebays system is smart enough now to detect name changes.

For example: on ur uk bank account,,,u set up a payee and put in the account no and sort code but the names wrong...the system immediately says BEEP WRONG NAME and even goes as far as providing the right name of the person you should be paying...but you can still proceed with the transaction


Id like to think ebay has a new system that just scouts through all newly added accs...and big red banners mass pop up saying wrong name...now this wouldnt necessarily stop the microdeposit of 1p being paid in but itll trigger a "5 day review" which usually entails back office then clicking on that red banner and seeing the exact name and matching it with the one put down,and then you get caught out here.If not caught out here due to some reps just being lazy, youll get caught out at the second one down the line, a month or two later and get suspended.

because thaty red banner wont go away until its been manually approved...hence why the added option of bank statement and if all goes well and you got a good bank statement edit, the red banner would get taken off after the manual review and youll be good for sometime..but not forever as the system would still do random micro deposit checks again to see...hence why the random checks every few months

This has long been "seeable" by ebay - however they have not always taken action if names mismatch...
