Upgrading to Business Account from Personal - Advice Needed
 

My current ebay account was registered as a MP personal account using a California residential address in 2022.

Non-stealth, all real legitimate information.

I didn't do proper research and never took the time to upgrade my account type to business.

Now I am doing relatively high volume for a personal account (~14K/month) and I want to voluntarily upgrade to a business account before being forced by ebay.

I will be forming my LLC out of Delaware. I am currently residing in California.

My LLC will be using a Delaware virtual business address (real physical address) & my registered agent will be at this same address.

Before upgrading, do I need to make any changes to my current (CA) registered address?

Should I update it to reflect my new Delaware business address before upgrading, or should I leave it as is?

Will the new business information I submit during the upgrading process replace my old registration address?

Will ebay care that my address switches from CA to DE?

What documents will I be asked for during the upgrade process?


Also in regards to the EIN; do I need to wait 2-weeks after EIN creation until it becomes officially "active"?

The IRS site says...

However, it will take up to two weeks before your EIN becomes part of the IRS's permanent records. You must wait until this occurs before you can:

• File an electronic return
• Make an electronic payment
• Pass an IRS Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) matching program

I want to ensure my upgrade process is as smooth as possible with no holds, reviews or issues.

I recommend patience here since it's back to school week and just week post-long holiday. I am sure ppl will reply over time.

I don't have great knowledge about EIN and LLC use (as yet) - though It's an interesting learning possibility as well.

No, that EIN can be submitted to ebay within 24 hours. I wait 48 hours just to be sure

There are many addresses for an Ebayer ,shipping from address,residential/business address,return goods address,receive ebay mail address,address for buying on Ebay.

Your best option is to just call eBay and ask for higher department to assist you along with the process.


Switching to a business account is a super simple straightforward process.
You just follow steps.
You confirm your address,DOB,phone number(via sms) and you then re-enter your bank account where you'll receive your payouts.
Then it's another 48 hours security wait for your next payout and thats it.

As for your questions regarding address change and changing from CA to DE - Just call them up and make sure you talk to a native-english speaking rep who is educated on your questions and knows what they are talking about and one that can practically hold your hand durring the process over the phone.

Which address do I confirm - my new business address?

You would confirm the only address that's relevant for the account - the business address

Does bank address need to match address on ebay?

I'm planning to use instant verification method via log-in to confirm my bank.

You mean your registered address for the bank account? Never has been an issue for me - I haven't done instant verification in ages though for my US accounts...

Right my registered address with the bank.

Tried using my business address when signing up with the bank in-branch, but their system rejected it and forced me to use a residential address.

The bank registration parameters are different than eb though - was your business address a post box?

Yes it was considered a "mail processing center" or post box by the banks system.

I'm using a virtual business address from my provider which has a real physical location in California, and gives me a unique suite number to use for my business.

In any case, I had them add my business address as a secondary "mailing address" on the bank account.

Silly question and I'm probably just being paranoid but..

I have (1) active payment dispute open from a buyer - should I wait until this is resolved and I have 0 Requests/Disputes before upgrading the account?

Does it even matter?
