REFLECTION - eBay below the standard program is a joke and should be revised

I was thinking about when an account falls below the standard. The program is honestly too rigid. An account is considered temporary dead if it falls below the standard, the fault is the too long evaluation period of one year, versus the 0,30% limit which is ridiculously low, if you don't sell at least 400 items per month, but even a 3 month evaluation period is long enough.

I don't know why eBay didn't understand that this program is a crazy joke.

Let's say for example, in the last year 900 items have been sold and only 3 defects added, the account is below standard, you are above the 0,30% ( approx 0,33% ) that is a joke percentage. An account below the standard loses visibility and you can't even sponsor adverts, so sales will drop, the defects will remain the same but there will be fewer and fewer items sold during the evaluation period with the result that the percentage of defects will have an even greater impact.

I have always waited for the defects to disappear if I couldn't/can get them removed by assistance, which is now harder than ever. In practice for almost a year, an account is destined to remain under the standards, as their penalties applied to the account fuel the substandard status instead of helping to get out of it.

All this is absurd, they should reduce the evaluation times each month and take the percentages for the current month..or increase the percentage at least at 1%...at least

Dear eBay, you are also dead at managing things...fundamental things

Rotating over several accounts is a bit more work but helps to spread the dread...

Re: eBay under the standard program should be revised

was the 3 defects spread over a year or over a short period of time say 3 months?

If you sold more than 400 items in a given month you will be evaluated every 3 months, if 399 or less you go to one year

This is why I will never let my 'cases closed without seller resolution' take a hit. If I get one opened, I monitor it carefully and always deal with it before the buyer get the chance to get ebay to close it in their favour.

You only have to fall below standard once to know you never want it to happen again and ebay knows this.

Hey, it could be said that once you've been there and subsequently manage your account wisely to ensure it never happens again that it's a great policy if your competitors are less disciplined.

Yes you are in reason and i quote all you said. But too much work and many things do to sometime bring to forget what is going with disputes. Fortunately i can rotate. But yes my guilty, rules are rules

falling below standard, the seller has to pay a higher FVF fee, like 2% more?
Like ARIA said,do not wait for EBay to get involved, have it resolved as soon as you can, selling on Ebay is like a full time job if you are selling high volume

You better check,in USA,falling below standard you end up paying higher fee, like 2%,can anyone verify that?
At eBay, we’re committed to making sure that buyers have a great shopping experience and sellers are protected and supported for their outstanding service on our platform. That’s why we regularly evaluate seller performance and assign a rating that reflects the seller’s level based on our Global Seller Performance Standards.

We're reinforcing our commitment to creating great buyer experiences and supporting sellers who provide good customer service by introducing a Below Standard fee. From 1 April, 2024, sellers who are rated Below Standard will be charged an additional 6% on top of the final value fee* for items sold. This will continue on a monthly basis until the account is rated Above Standard or higher, and aligns us with existing fees throughout our platform. This change will apply to sellers who receive a Below Standard rating beginning with the 20 March, 2024 evaluation.

Amazon does seem to have a more comfortable evaluation program but brutal suspension/inactivation system...as a caveat

eBay should copy their evaluation program. They copied many things, they miss the evaluation program ;)
