Maintaining your ranking in eBay search as you get more stock in

Some items I rank consistently high in Ebay search as its easy for me to source these items. Others, however, are much more difficult for me to get inventory. I'll get only a few items, maybe one or two every week or two, but they are super high profit margin items that sell for upwards of 500$ at a time.

that said, like with Every other listing, there is a momentum factor at play here. Ive noticed when I sell 4-5 of these 500$ items back to back, eBay really prioritizes me, and I can even raise prices to the 600$ mark and still get sales. But like I said, its hard for me to source these items, and I realize that every day that goes by without me having these in stock, I lose a little traction in search

Does anyone have any guidelines / tips / things theyve noticed as far as maintaining your results in search? Eg like, "as long as you get a sale once in every 5 days, your placement will be maintained", etc? Hope that makes sense. Im sure this is a common problem among sellers and just wondering what kind of research you guys have done on it and how you've solved it

Search Rank is based off impression vs STR ratio, not time. So that means that if you sell an item, and your quantity is 0, it will not get any more impressions, and the moment you put your item back in stock, itll go back to the rank it was going to naturally be at, because all of the history is preserved.

I got this from reading the ebay patents.

So if I run out of stock, but keep quantity positive, change the asking price to a higher price so no one will buy it,I will keep my ranking ?
When I am in stock again,I will lower the price?

Bingo..... you're correct.

Essentially you need to keep inventory in the positive and never run out.
