Cancelled a buyers order
 

I did a huge screw up. I panicked and did not think clearly. Sold an item right after I listed it. Underpriced by around $800. I cancelled the buyers order and relisted as an auction. Ancient account doing 100k a year in sales. Now I’m freaking out over the consequences of my decision. I know what I did was a defect but after research it’s much worse than a defect.

No,but if you keep cancelling orders,Ebay will take notice.
I dont know how Ayden handle cancelled order,but when Paypal was the payment method on Ebay,PAYPAL would keep some of its fee?
WHY?Because most buyers use their credit cards,when order is cancelled,a credit is submitted to the bank,and there is a fee Paypal has to pay

what reason did you give for cancelling the order?
I recall cancelling too many orders pissed off AMZN,but not sure what Ebay would do,I guess if there are too many ,Ebay would be pissed as well,it offers free listing .and earns nothing in return

nothing will happen because of one item but if I were you I would write into the refund note that there was an error in the item description

I also would not relist it immediately if it is expensive

AFAIK...

Cancel cause OOS = defect
Cancel cause buyer asked = youre fine
Cancel cause issue w/ buyer address = unclear

Additionally, they keep track of how many "Buy asked" cancellations you have so you dont abuse it. AND. Ive noticed theyve wisened up so that if theres no message thread btwn you and the buyer beforehand, Buyer canceled counts as a defect. any sort of message thread, youre more in the clear (barring the aforementioned tally)
