Ebay can not answer when money will be available
 

Hello. I think its bit srange when ebay can not explain how money hold time is counting.

11 emails with them.

So in general you sell item and you dont know when you will get paid. Or even will get paid.

what did you sell? and what is the amount
How old is your seller account?
What kind of shipping method did you use?

Amount is about 2k$
Brand item

Im not using any method, just asking there to understan how holds is counted depending on shipping options what ebay provides.

2k brand item - could be the major reason...more so than shipping option

And this can be reason to not tell buyer how long will be hold time ?

Maybe 30 maybe 40 maybe 46 days who knows. And maybe by the end you will be banned and not get anything.

Is that normal when person who sell something didnt know when he gets paid ?

For eBay that is correct.

I always choose the fastest shipping for something this high value.
Also make signature required.

The shipping shows delivered within 1-2 days, on the 3rd day I'd email the buyer nicely asking how they like the product and hinting on positive feedback.

usually the hold comes off quicker than I thought.

Nice experiance. But in my case i want to understand how holds works. I have not so much profit margin to chose UPS or DHL for 100€

As a seller do i have rights to understand when i get paid in diferent circustances and chose for me which is best for me ?

so if not UPS,DHL,are you using your country postal system?
The message from Ebay is odd,it sounds like they are in no hurry to release the money?No business can survive getting their money in 40 days or longer?
what exactly is the $2k brand product you sold,I think thats the problem

Its not about what im selling. Its about transparecy of ebay.

You sell whatever you want but you dont know when you will get paid :)

Thats not so,I just sold a $4k item,I get paid in 2 days.
You do not sell whatever you want,Ebay calls the shots,it will tell you what you can and cannot sell.
With your kind of attitude,I can see why eBAY is in no hurry to release the fund.

it is about what you are selling , on new accounts they have holds that can last several weeks. these holds could be reduced or removed once selling history has been accumulated but if you sell expensive items costing hundreds / thousands of dollars you will be automatically seen as high risk and the hold will remain long term

It all depends on how long have you been selling on Ebay,what are you selling and how much are the items you are selling.
If a seller usually sells items within a certain price range,say $25-$100 and then start listing items $500-$2000,Ebay will notice,if those items are high risk such as iphones,high end jewelry and watches and even comics which is considered high risk,there will be a hold.
There could be other information Ebay obtains from third party about us,esp those who have a track record of defaults,like an ex retailer who used to own a business and now selling from home with the remaining stocks he did not pay for.
Or he used to have a merchant account to accept cc and evaded chargebacks by closing his bank account,it is not too difficult to find out,Paypal does that,I am sure MP can do the same,it is all in his records.
You just have to be patient and build up your good sales history

I agree it's not normal and transparent by eb - it's very annoying...even more so if someone is very reliant on funds...sadly eb works like this to minimize their own risk

It is 24k gold below spot price and worse ,after sale,gold keeps marching north and the buyer loves it,he is a professional dealer !
Ebay took > $500 ,it covers its FVF plus credit card fees .
I have to insure the item up to $1500 with U-PIC and signature confirmation.
Later someone gives me some idea,open a low price Ebay shop and the FVF is lower like 7% not 10-11%.
But I wont be selling gold on Ebay unless I really have to,he and I would deal outside Ebay.
But Ebay did not hold my fund,it was transferred to my bank account as I specified in my seller account,like daily ,it took 2 days to land in my BANK account.
There are 4 levels of ACH(automated clearing house) via Fed ,the lowest level is free and slowest,and Ayden is using that level.
How does it work in Canada or UK or EU?

My post was not about how to reduce this time, but about that you can never know how much days it will be.

Immagine in real life, you selling car and i came to buy it. I take your car and saying you i will pay you… maybe in 30 days maybe in 46 days, but if something will be wrong with car i will not pay you. Sit and wait now ! 😂

Ebay is the middleman which process your payment,it does not receive merchandise,your buyer does.
so if the payment turns out to be fraudulent or you sold a lemon,Ebay is caught in the middle,could end up eating the loss.
What did you sell and what is the method of delivery?
never heard of 40 days ?
usually 3 -7 days after tracking said delivered,is there signature confirmation?
Your country is EU,which country -Eastern European ?Ukraine?
Shipping does matter,if it is too slow,buyer can open a case of INR and get his money back while the item is still on its way ?
When it finally arrives,your lucky buyer gets a freebie.

I haven't sold gold items as yet - hesitating on putting those type of items for auction currently

Managed Payments is also using the free and slowest up in Canada - 3-5 days

Some banks like Chase does offer same day transfer to another bank,no fee but cannot be cancelled.

When Ebay said we have keep our balances in our Ebay account to buy thing,it is only to buy on EBAY and not outside Ebay.
With PAYPAL,we can use it to buy anywhere Paypal is accepted

In real life,no one will let someone drive away his car without paying.
There is a saying on Ebay-do not sell anything you cant afford to lose.
You may want to consider selling somewhere else,reading what Ebay said to you,it sounds like Ebay is not a fit with your business model

Actualy ebay has explained me how holds works and how they cont it.
But i realy dont understand their mathematics. Here is what they told me, but after this email they send one more, but i have total mess after this all

We calculated the Estimated Delivery Date for Order ID: as per the below details:

Handling Time: 3 days
Shipping Option selected: Standard International Shipping | Carrier Shipping time: 11-20 days
Estimated Delivery Date Calculation= Handling Time + Carrier Shipping time = 3 days + 11 days – 3 days + 20 days (from Sale date)

Estimated Delivery Date = Sale Date + 14 days – Sale Date + 23 days = October 20, 2024 + 14 days – October 20, 2024 + 23 days = November 3, 2024 – November 17, 2024

so your estimated deliver date is Nov3,3024 earliest and no later than Nov 17,2024
the dash sign '-" is the same as minus sign '-'

No im not.
Im still not understand in which circumstances they add hold more than 30 days. In my situation 46 days.

I am under the impression Ebay goes to the carrier websites with our tracking numbers to update progress,now it is saying the carrier is supposed to transmit tracking progress to Ebay?
How does a carrier know it should come to Ebay?and why should it ?
why dont you tell us what country you are shipping your item>

ebay track items using the number added to the order , once the item has been delivered the status in the order must change to delivered

I think you've been in the game long enough.

As usual there's no 100% set time when they'll release it the hold.

hence why I said I ship fast so the tracking shows delivered quickly.

If your margin is very low, do you have something like a cheaper 3 day delivery option in UK?
