They care about your email name
 
was otp with one of the staff for ebay and they asked me why is my email name different to my account name . Just letting yall know

weird, how do they know what name you have on your email. ebay doesn't have access to that

I think it is the name on the email addy like
Johnwalters@gmailcom and his ebay account name is James Dean

WHen you email people nowadays it usually shows the name next to the email address.

This is actually decent info - it shows that the staff member you were speaking to was doing a bit of a deep dive.

Always good to have things matching up in communication as a general rule - looks suspect otherwise

Did you sign up and sign in with your google account? they should be able to see your name on gmail account if you did and many other information as well. Sounds a bit crazy if they asked about name that's included in your account username as agent suggested.
