Anyone else seeing a huge sales hit in 2025?

I've only just got all my old items selling again across multiple accounts this year and in general I'm seeing sales down by anything between 50-1000%. This is on private accounts across a range of items.

Is anyone else seeing this in 2025?

Not on my end since i'm niche specific without a huge volume but I'm following to see what other members say

The thing is I had normal sales on new accounts for the first 2 weeks, and then nothing. It's like you get the old algo marketing initially on the site but then they pull the plug. Promoted listing % makes no difference either. These are accounts without any previous suspensions or issues

Literally have not sold one item for a week, promoting does not change either, something is very wrong. If it wasn't for Etsy, which is slow but better than egay, I'd have to resort to some other method to pay the bills. It's really getting bad.

This is the kind of behavior I'm seeing across many accounts when listing an item on a new account.

Manipulated bull****.

From what I have gathered, promoted ads rotate the larger promoted listings at the top. I do the suggested percentage as much as I can, and I can never get my whole inventory selling hot. It is always a portion of my inventory that gets hot, then cold, and the other listings warm up.

In theory, rotational sales would make sense for eBay. Because otherwise, the top of the listing ranks would be saturated by potentially one seller. (the highest promoted fee payer). So, they rotate the biggest ad buyers. That is why you see the blowouts and empty days. With eBay's traffic, it statistically doesn't look right to get that hot and then just go dark. It is being removed from the ranking temporarily. Organic sales are far more consistent under the bell curve.

I’ve been running promoted on mine for about an extra 10% fees, it has definitely increased my sales. Basically all the items promoted are being sold under promotion which I don’t really believe but it’s whatever.

3 months ago I was around $7500, now I’m $13k monthly. I think without promoted I’d be around $9000 or so.

What about competition - has there be any increase in the market?

It doesn't really look rotational in my image though, it's a boom and bust with no recovery. And I started with just 2% promotion, it's been at 10% for most of the dead time.

The views, both promoted and organic actually don't change much at all with the sales but I'm not entirely convinced the data is accurate.

Nope, none.

Must be a niche market - all others are pretty much nonexistent. Etsy is the only platform bringing in any income right now...

Unless you sell your own branded goods, the only way for survival, or rather if you want to make a lot of money selling in a niche market is by default a necessity. Otherwise it becomes to saturated. I have to recycle things I sell every year because once a specific brand starts making really good money, other people obviously see it, then copy it. It's always fleeting, unless you sell your own brand.

If you have low sales its simply a red flag to change what you're doing.

Understood - then perhaps customer interest is decreasing in the products.

Hmm, if the items are branded, it points towards saturation or dying popularity. If the item is generic, it's almost always saturated.

The reality is there are a lot more platforms to buy from now.

Thats why you should be selling on all them. I've been doing this since 2019.
