feedback JUMPED overnight
 

Have a semi new account started selling on around a year ago, its been taking it steady and had about... 20-30 feedback? Last I checked.

Anyway, logged on today and I couldn't believe what I saw. Feedback is now at 97 and it came out of nowhere. I tallied up all the feedback left by buyers and it doesnt come close to this. I mean, I definitely have a few hundred transactions on the account, but only a small # of them actually result in feedback being left by the buyer. Dk why, dk care why, since business is good. Seems like Ebay just decided to boost my feedback a bit based off transactions level as opposed to actual feedback left by buyers. Really blew me away, and its happening on a few of my other accounts too

Some whacky stuff going on... but I like it. Anyone else seeing this?

They changed policy because of new laws. Removed auto removal of feedback if you offer free returns, and now auto feedback for every sale.

Personally I have mixed views because it helps me but also helps my competitors with sub 95% feedback. I have 100%. Some are perfectly okay with horrible feedback, and with lowest prices. I'm not for either. So they counter the poor feedback with more volume, and now eBay rewards it.

"Federal Trade Commission Announces Final Rule Banning ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Reviews and Testimonials", from last year however eBay mentions this as a reason for why the new policy took into effect.

Straight from eBay feedback policy,

"The Federal Trade Commission's recent Final Rule Banning ⊗⊗⊗⊗ Reviews and Testimonials requires businesses to avoid any practice that could appear to suppress negative feedback. To remain compliant with this and other new global regulations, starting September 3, we'll no longer remove negative or neutral feedback in the following returns situation."
