I have been on Ebay since the founder runs it from his bedroom.
There were 30,000 listings and I said to myself WOW!
We used to set our alarm to get out of bed and bid in the middle of the night,
Sellers can bid on his own auction.
We paid Ebay fee by sending a check .
Buyers sent cash,money/postal order or personal checks.
Anyone can leave you feedback,he does not have to buy anything.
Plenty of ⊗⊗⊗⊗ antiques on EBay and buyers are so gullible they believe they are getting a real deal .
Then comes credit card ,a joint venture between Ebay and Wells Fargo Bank.
Then comes Paypal,it offers you $10 for signing up and $10 for every referral,at one time it was spending over $100k /day.
Then Ebay bought Paypal and then ditch Paypal,so now we have Ayden,or Adyen.
Class dismissed !

Those were the days agent - lot of business was made and amazing business on my end - what did you learn from then though?

I learn eco 101,supply and demand.
We made obscene profit at first,we thought it could go on forever,some even quit their jobs and do Ebay full time,some write books,some retired.
Some went big and ordered large quantity of same merchandise ,using software to upload hundred and even thousands of listings,there are also software which will bid for you in the last few minutes.
Thrift shops,garage sales ,antique ships were mobbed by Ebay sellers ,some even show up the day before to see/buy what you have.
I also learn if you put nice things next to garbage,you are not going to get more $$ for your nice things.
All these is not new,it happens every day,every corner of the world.

Correct - and then as time moves on, you have to pivot to continue business...or look elsewhere. Now, how are you making a decent profit online?
