Question about seller deductions

Im confused about the seller deduction tool. If I am a Top Rated (or Above Standard) seller, and I offer 30d free returns, I know I can use the deduction tool for "buyer's remorse" returns if the buyer sends me back a damaged item, used item, etc

But what if I enable "30d Buyer Pays return shipping". Am I still able to use the deduction tool under those same circumstances (eg for a buyer's remorse return where the buyer sends back a materially different item than what was sent to him?). If so, is this only for TR sellers? Is it for Above Standard sellers too?

I am shipping alot of oversized items nowadays, and prefer to enable Buyer Paid returns on my listings. But not at the expense of losing my seller protections for these listings.

Can someone kindly clarify this? Have you ever used this tool in my situation? Thanks!

Re: Question about seller deductions

Good question.
I've been selling for 10+ years and I still don't know if you can deduct on buyer paid returns :d

Re: Question about seller deductions

OP, I feel that many buyers will not read the fine print and complain about the paying for return shipping. Many buyers these days want free everything, which is annoying.

Re: Question about seller deductions

In my experience, everytime I have deducted from a buyer, they've hit me with a negative feedback + dispute on the deduction which 100% of the times they've won it back.

So don't even bother IMO.

Re: Question about seller deductions

Agreed.

OP, you're pretty much obligated to send a full refund regardless of what you're sent back. If it's something that puts you at a loss.. block the buyer, make a note of their address and tape it to your desk if necessary, and then move on.

This is the flip side of winning disputes where a buyer provides an ambiguous address and then their order shows as delivered. The seller wins in those cases even though the buyer may not have received their order due to a missing apt number.

Win some, lose some..
