Is There Any Way to Bypass Phone Verification When Logging In?
 

My account was logged out unexpectedly. I still have the cookies and the original VM profile that was used to create the account, but every time I try to log in, I'm asked to verify my identity with a phone number.

Is there any way to bypass the phone verification during login? Or is there any way to receive the verification code via email instead of SMS?

I don't think so, you can try your luck by calling customer service and explaining you lost your phone or something, but this is why I always activate 2-step auth (via app) first thing and also organise my sims as companies now verify via strictly through sms, rarely emails.

I think with AMZN,you can still get a phone call.
I would think so would Ebay,as plenty of old fluffy duffy folks buy and sell on EBay who may not be able to receive SMS

I never have to do that with Ebay,but with AMZN,I get a phone call.
I use my PC to log into my Ebay account !

always verify the email in settings, but you can still be asked for sms verification unfortunately

Unfortunately, some things when it comes to eBay there are no work arounds, that is part of their security procedures.

If you've lost access to your sim/no it's goodbye to the account 99% of the time.

That being said you can always try to call them and explain you had your phone stolen and lost access to the number via ticket they may assist you.

It's good measure to ALWAYS keep your sim cards safe, never loose them and first thing enable 2-step auth on your eBay account via phone app, this will be the primary way you are authenticated when attempting to login to the account, but either way do not loose access to your mobile as they will need to call you in the future for security etc.

I have lost access to mobile numbers in the past and it's near impossible to recover these accounts on eBay. PayPal is a different story, you are able to call them and arrange for them to change your number for you, as long as you can pass the security questions they ask.

For eBay accounts, there is generally no legitimate way to bypass mobile verification. Even if you retain cookies, the original VM configuration, and the browser environment, you may still be unable to skip verification, as eBay may re-request identity confirmation based on the account's risk profile.

If you can no longer receive SMS messages on the original phone number, it is recommended that you follow eBay's account recovery process.

I would try to wait it out since it is a security flag of some type that has been tripped. Not likely to work, however. I know with PayPal I have waited a week or two then tried again being very careful and a few times it let me add my card or whatever was blocked before...

Negative, but never say never, could trigger an ID upload, but never happened to me as of yet.

Maybe if it's 1 change after a while it's fine. Maybe if you attempt to keep changing your mobile number every so often it could be an issue..

phone numbers are a perfect example of how ebay is run , namely it is run by bots while indians and philippinos on customer support are agents of the bots not the other way around

so they request SMS confirmation and if you can't give it they will tell you to open a new account , no one is gonna even try to verify you to replace the phone because no one cares about anything

and ebay is full of such ridiculous informal rules , for example in the UK if you move to another address you actually better wait until the new address appears in the credit agency databases , if you try to change it before that you easily get suspended for failed verification. and once softcheck can be done and account has already been suspended it will be too late as no one will care anymore
