I haven't used eBay to sell in almost 8 years lol. I just listed my first item. If I'm understanding this correctly even if the buyer pays with PayPal the funds will go into my eBay account and once released I can transfer it to my bank account without ever using PayPal?

Yes, no need for PayPal, it is managed payments now outsourced to adyen. eBay holds the funds which are then sent to your bank account / debit card...

Your buyer can still use Paypal to pay you,but seller does not use Paypal to collect the $$
Paypal has some nifty features,if you are in Eastern Europe or outside UK,USA,etc, and you get paid in GBP or EU or US$,you can ask Paypal not to convert to your local currency

US Paypal members could use Paypal to send money overseas.US $ or foreign currencies.
You can use friend and family to send fund to your family or friend to split a restaurant bill.
Some folks do not have bank account,

Ebay buyers would rather use their credit card, than going thru Paypal to use the same credit card.
Unless they have Paypal balance sitting in their Paypal account, some get paid via Paypal, some hide their money in their Paypal account,
some guy going thru a divorce, thats what he does, hide it in his Paypal account.
Some who collect disability benefits from the state, the state while deposit the $$ in their bank account, would find out they are earning income, but if they sell on Ebay and never transfer $$ from his Paypal account to his bank account,State will never know.
we are talking those who do not get a 1099 at the end of the year

Thank you everyone! Just making sure I don't commit suicide. I am even surprised I remember my login information and my Google voice still worked for my original eBay account probably 25-30 years old. I remember I was like 15 years old buying stuff, sending in the rebates and selling it on eBay without the UPC code and riding my bike to the post office to ship them.

Are you still riding your bike now?
I remember the good old days where I SET MY ALARM to bid in the middle of the night.

- Link your domestic bank account for payouts
- Link your debit card for payments / seller fees (but they mostly deduct the seller fees from your sale value automatically, but you can still go negative due to listing fees, other small charges or disputes, I have my payments page bookmarked for easy access)
Everything is internal with eBay now, even shipping labels, they provide their own labels and customs arrangements. Although you can select to use your own shipping arrangements as you wish.
It's more streamlined this way, I hated the PayPal integration back then personally..
I suspect too much headache with 2 dispute and payment systems using PayPal and all the other extra complications, they decided they didn't need PayPal and got rid of them around the late 2010s and do everything themselves internally.

merchant account rate is higher and it requires you to have a commercial checking account with minimum balance, say $1000.
Also all credit cards are not created equal, those which give perks ,bank will charge you more,

Credit unions for the win If it weren't for the convenience of big banks having better online banking platforms.. I'd do everything at a credit union instead.
