It's usually either brand owners or you being flagged algorithmically by eBay as too risky.
What did the listing takedown notices say?

One or more of your listings have been hidden for not following our Counterfeit policy. We understand that this must be frustrating. But don’t worry — we’re here to help!

What happened

Items that appear to be counterfeit or infringe on intellectual property, including unauthorized use of brand names or logos, aren’t allowed on eBay.

We removed this item to protect you and your buyers, because we believe it is likely to be counterfeit. To make this decision we consider the details you provided about your item, reports that we receive from brands or members of the community, buyer feedback or the reasons buyers returned the item. Please do not relist this item.

What to do next

Items removed for this policy cannot be relisted. Please ensure that your future listings are for authentic items only. For these items, they should be described accurately and completely, so buyers know that it is an authentic item.

What this means for you

You can remain focused on your business. To protect you, we removed listings that didn't follow this policy. We have credited any associated fees, except for transaction fees for your sold listing(s).

These listings are still in your Active Listings folder in My eBay and Seller Hub so you can view them. However, new buyers can't purchase them, shoppers can't see them, and you will not be charged additional listing fees for them. You can end them to move them out of Active Listings.

Other than what was communicated to you previously, no additional action is required from you and no further actions are being placed on your account.

This determination was made by a customer service agent. This came to our attention because of a user report.

More about this policy

Counterfeit items are goods that mislead buyers into believing they are genuine, authorised, or compliant when they aren’t. These items can misrepresent their nature by making false claims about composition, purity, origin, grading, safety, or regulatory compliance.

Only list an item if you're certain it's genuine.

Your listings must include clear photos that show the item from multiple angles and highlight all relevant details. Don't hide, blur, or cover logos or other identifying features.

This policy helps protect buyers shop with confidence, helps sellers understand what they can list, helps protect intellectual property rights owners, and supports trust in the eBay marketplace.

Damn, that sucks.

Is the person you suspect of instigating this still selling the same item?

I got another thee of the same warning today "Other than what was communicated to you previously, no additional action is required from you and no further actions are being placed on your account."

I've had this over ten times now on one account. Do you think the same message will just continue as it's a user report, or do you think it'll progess to 3, 7, 10 day ban etc? I know it's impossible to say buy them seem to treat user reports different to vero.

Again, the number of violations your account can handle without being suspended depends on your sales volume and how well you handle customer service. I'm talking from experience. My main account has had over a dozen listing removals.

Over ten times...hopefully you have backup accounts going on in case the ban hammer comes down :( very difficult to predict what the analysis on eb side comes up with...could be a 3 day ban....could be an indefinite suspension...only time will tell

I have had this happen, but you should be able to easily trace by the email. They usually provide who it was by this method.

The last time this was a problem for me was 2024-2025. Two different brands used the same website that algo reports listings. Once you get caught in their system, they tend to keep reporting every month one to two months. Usually starts with 1 item, then they report a bunch.

What made them stop for me, I think was when they reported my Poshmark account. It was the only time ever I have seen reporting across marketplaces. However on Poshmark you can appeal, which requires them to take you to court and if not the listings get reinstated. Once I did that, and was successful I have not had another reporting in 8 months.

Lots of the new removals come from website that just mass flag suspected listings. They get money by showing removals, so once you're in that loop, they'll keep doing it unless you remove all the listings or can successfully appeal it which eBay doesn't generally allow.

You don't get the email when it's a user report which has caused the removal.

With no restrictions in place? What were the violations for?

Are you suggesting one single user caused this? Like one single user one one single account?

I can't say for definite, but I think so. It stopped for a couple of days, buy has started again now.

I am sure the ability of making bot accounts to flag listings will become a new thing with AI. Good reason to just ignore people instead of escalating things that shouldn't be dealt with. Takes one troll to ruin years of work.

I've had it with people on Depop. I've been in a bad mood before, say something then block them. Then these people will literally spend months on Reddit making ⊗⊗⊗⊗ usernames to either act like me or just troll.
